Service Specialist
As a Service Specialist on our Property & Casualty (P & C) underwriting team, you will play a vital role in supporting Horace Mann’s mission to serve educators. You’ll process and respond to policy change requests with care and precision, apply sound underwriting practices, and ensure our clients receive the outstanding service they deserve.
What You’ll Do
- Champion client needs. Evaluate and take action on inquiries and policy change requests from clients, agents, and third parties—via phone, email, chat, or written correspondence—within established service standards.
- Ensure compliance and accuracy. Apply the correct client, policy, and household details in accordance with all regulatory and filed rule requirements.
- Deliver educator-first service. Keep our educator-clients’ experience at the forefront, striving for first-contact resolution and once-and-done support with minimal customer effort.
- Contribute to continuous improvement. Identify process gaps or redundancies and recommend improvements that enhance client outcomes and strengthen our controls.
- Support key initiatives. Assist in system and process changes through project involvement and improvement programs aligned with P & C underwriting goals.
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent, required.
- A strong understanding of P & C underwriting philosophies and best practices.
- Experience evaluating and processing change requests across various lines of business, preferably using Guidewire products or similar systems.
- A commitment to top-tier service with a focus on resolving client issues quickly, accurately, and with empathy.
- Clear, professional communication skills with the ability to serve both clients and internal stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset with comfort in navigating system tools and seeking opportunities to improve operations.
Pay Range:
- $19.66- $29.04 per hour.
Salary is commensurate to experience, location, etc.
