IT Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Program Manager
The IT Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Program Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for Horace Mann's IT Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) efforts. Core duties include:
- Strategic Oversight of BC/DR initiatives across IT environments.
- Development & Maintenance of the BC/DR program including all frameworks, plans, and documentation.
- Business Impact Analyses (BIA) and risk assessments for critical systems.
- Collaboration with infrastructure, applications, and cybersecurity teams on recovery strategies.
- Creation and Management of:
- Recovery playbooks and runbooks
- Escalation protocols
- Planning and Coordination of:
- Tabletop tests
- Full recovery exercises
- Remediation tracking
- Disruption Response: Manage and coordinate responses during real disruptions or declared disasters.
- Policy Governance: Define policies, procedures, and standards compliant with regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 22301, NIST SP 800-34, FFIEC).
- Reporting and Metrics: Establish KPIs to track readiness, test outcomes, and program improvements.
- Enterprise Engagement: Align IT BC/DR strategies with enterprise-wide business continuity planning.
- Audit & Compliance: Support internal and third-party assessments, audits and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Continuous Learning: Maintain awareness of BC/DR best practices, tools, and threat trends.
Required Education & Experience
- 5–8+ years in IT Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, or IT Risk Management.
- In-depth understanding of IT systems/infrastructure, data recovery, cloud resiliency models.
- Proven experience leading BC/DR initiatives (individual contributor level).
- Expertise in developing BIAs, runbooks, and test plans.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (ISO 22301, NIST, HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
- Strong project and stakeholder management, along with excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as:
- CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional)
- MBCI (Member of the Business Continuity Institute)
- CISM, CISSP, PMP or similar
- Experience with continuity planning platforms (e.g., Fusion Risk Management, RSA Archer).
- Background in regulated sectors such as insurance, finance, or healthcare.
Pay Range:
$99,100.00 - $146,050.00
Salary is commensurate to experience, location, etc.
