Suitability Analyst

Horace Mann is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Suitability Analyst to join our Broker-Dealer Compliance team. In this role, you'll help protect our clients and support our registered representatives by reviewing financial services transactions for suitability and ensuring activity is handled in accordance with broker-dealer procedures and FINRA requirements.

You'll combine analytical thinking, regulatory knowledge, and strong relationship-building skills to review applications, research transactions, maintain required documentation, and provide guidance to registered personnel. You'll also contribute to surveillance, training, forms, and process improvements that strengthen our overall supervisory program.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with insurance or brokerage experience who enjoys working at the intersection of financial services, regulatory compliance, and client protection.

Key Responsibilities

Suitability & Transaction Review

  • Review financial services product applications and enrollment forms for suitability in accordance with broker-dealer procedures and FINRA regulations.
  • Evaluate transaction information and supporting documentation to ensure established suitability requirements are met.
  • Complete appropriate follow-up with registered personnel when additional information or clarification is required.
  • Maintain complete and accurate broker-dealer documentation in accordance with regulatory and firm requirements.
  • Support the appropriate disposition of applications in accordance with established broker-dealer procedures.

Registered Representative Support

  • Serve as a resource for agents and registered personnel regarding:
    • Product suitability
    • Asset allocation considerations
    • Financial services product replacements
    • Required transaction documentation
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with registered representatives regarding outstanding requirements and suitability-related questions.
  • Help field partners understand documentation expectations and broker-dealer procedures.

Surveillance & Regulatory Support

  • Develop and utilize exception reports and surveillance systems that support the firm's supervision of registered and non-registered personnel.
  • Identify transactions or activities requiring additional review or follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support regulatory and supervisory requirements.
  • Partner with leadership on suitability and broker-dealer compliance activities as appropriate.

Training, Forms & Process Improvement

  • Assist in developing training materials for registered representatives related to broker-dealer suitability activities.
  • Support development of new and updated forms designed to capture required contract and transaction information more efficiently.
  • Participate in testing new forms and related system enhancements.
  • Provide systems support associated with suitability processes and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, documentation, and the experience of registered representatives while maintaining regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required; Four-year college degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of related business experience within the insurance or brokerage industry.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and consistently apply procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a highly regulated environment.

Licensing Requirements

  • FINRA Series 6 or Series 7 required.
  • FINRA Series 26 or Series 24 required.
  • Series 51/53 preferred.

Additional Information

Pay Range:

  • $66,500.00 - $92,000.00 + bonus

Salary is commensurate to experience, location, etc.
