As the IT Manager at Malibu-based Horizon Surgical Systems Inc., you will join a group revolutionizing the field of surgical ophthalmology and microsurgery. Your work will support a paradigm shift focused on automating ophthalmological surgical procedures with robotic platforms. General Responsibilities include:

  • Define IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes, to help reduce downtime and decrease maintenance costs.
  • Maintain essential IT infrastructure, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software issues, and provide technical support when needed.
  • Routinely monitor/evaluate performance of IT systems including network and data security to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improvement.
  • Routinely generate system operations reports and share them with managers.
  • Create and implement Horizon’s IT policy and best practice manuals.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
  • Track and maintain inventory of all installed and spare hardware/software.
  • Contribute to the execution of data transfer, archiving, and pre-processing. 
  • Develop and execute disaster planning and maintain data backups.

Required Qualifications and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ Years of experience working in IT operations, ideally in a regulated product development or manufacturing environment.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of operating systems, including Linux/Windows/MacOS.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of network and systems administration.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of databases and data storage systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of security is a plus.
  • Project or personnel management responsibilities are an asset.
  • Innovative and creative thinking.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).

Salary range: $70,000 to $100,000
