We are looking for an exceptional person to join our team as Manager, Media Strategy.
The media strategy team’s mission is to stay at the forefront of media trends and build a community of experts across the agency. As part of this team, you will support the continuous learning and development of media relations topics across the agency by leading sessions on various media topics and regularly sharing media insights and tends across the agency.
As a Manager, Media Strategy at Hotwire, you will drive media strategy and results for multiple accounts. You will fully understand the media landscape, have strong relationships with media and journalists in tech, business and/or trade publications.
The Manager, Media Strategy provides strategic recommendations for campaign activity, stays on top of news trends and provide recommendations for engaging with media. They are organized, thorough, motivating and stay positive no matter what.
The Manager is a role model for junior staff and is seen as a ‘go-to’ person for client teams who are looking for stronger media results. They understand client objectives and know when to escalate or flag something up to leadership when the situation calls for it.
As a Manager, Media Strategy you will serve as a mentor throughout the agency and help upskill staff on the best practices of media relations and educate on evolving media landscape.
Responsibilities:
- You will drive media strategy for 4-6 accounts through media analysis, audience analysis and media relations and support other teams with media relations outside your core accounts.
- You will manage one or more direct reports, you will be responsible for your team’s development, performance and wellbeing.
- You will support the development of the wider Media Strategy and junior team at Hotwire.
- You will add real value to your teams through knowledge of your b2b tech space, media relationships, strategic insight, strong quality control and your understanding of what makes a great story and how best to tell it.
- You will take a leading role around media strategy in new business activities.
- You will work with staff at all levels to divvy up responsibility for media outreach and ensure that when team members hit a roadblock, they have your support to brainstorm how to overcome it.
- You will be responsible for generating results, ensuring the team meets deadlines and developing relationships with reporters through all industries.
- You will need to manage your time carefully, becoming an expert at keeping lots of balls in the air as you deliver work on different campaigns with different teams.
- You will work with team members with all different personalities and workstyles, and you will need to be fluid with your relationships to ensure the team is able to be highly collaborative and effective for Hotwire clients.
- You will be seen as a trusted team player for clients and Hotwire overall and will consistently provide proactive and strategic media guidance across your accounts to help meet client goals and objectives.
- You will participate in monthly media roundtables, host reporter meet and greets and attend events to build stronger relationships with journalists.
You’ll Bring:
- 5-8 years of media relations experience, either in a comms role - both in house, agency or newsroom.
- Deep experience in B2B technology industries such enterprise, fintech, software & services, IT & infrastructure, digital, consumer, commerce, etc.
- High level understanding of the evolving news climate and overall media industry.
- Strong written and presentation communication skills, with the comfort to present ideas and make a case to clients and partner agencies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Strong established relationships with journalists in tech, business and trade publications.

Compensation Range: $75,000 - $100,000
The range listed is just one component of Hotwire’s total compensation package for employees, which includes bonus opportunities and a variety of benefits mentioned above. Hotwire takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location, expected work to be performed, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. A potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
