Backend Engineer

As a Backend Engineer at HousingAnywhere, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of the rental housing market.

You will join our Booking Experience team, which is part of our Engineering department. Our cross-functional teams consist of an Engineering Manager, a Product Manager, a UX Designer, as well as Frontend and Backend Engineers. We are driven by a commitment to innovation, collaboration, customer-centricity, transparency, and ownership.

Our Tech Stack

• On the backend, we mostly use Go, Postgres and Redis. 
• On the frontend, we use React, Typescript, and Node JS.
• Our infrastructure runs on GCP, and we are heavy users of Kubernetes. 
• Our architecture is a distributed architecture with several “Modular Monoliths”. 
• We practice DevOps, Continuous Engineering, Domain Driven Design and Contract Driven Development.

Your role

• In your daily role, you will focus on developing and maintaining features using the Go programming language, working with product managers to ensure scalability, observability, and reusability.
• You will be responsible for drafting technical specifications and overseeing the end-to-end delivery of projects.
• Your role includes providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members, ensuring that all software meets our standards and aligns with project requirements.

Your profile

• 2–4 years of software development experience, ideally with exposure to distributed systems.
• Backend engineering focus with a strong product mindset.
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Go (other backend languages a plus).
• Experience designing and implementing APIs over HTTP, gRPC, etc.
• Exposure to infrastructure technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, GCP/AWS/Azure) is a plus.
• Curiosity about other parts of the stack (basic frontend knowledge is an advantage).
