Residential Water Treatment Sales Representative
Experienced Residential Water Treatment Sales Consultant
Turn water problems into the right solutions for homeowners.
Howard Air & Plumbing is expanding our residential water quality business, and we are looking for an experienced Water Treatment Sales Consultant who already understands the industry.
This is not an entry-level water treatment position. We are looking for someone who has experience selling residential water softeners, water conditioners, reverse osmosis systems, filtration systems, and other whole-home water quality solutions.
If you know how to test a home's water, identify the customer's concerns, explain the results in a way homeowners understand, recommend the right solution, and confidently close the sale, we want to talk to you.
What's in it for you:
- Strong earning potential. Performance-driven compensation with uncapped opportunity for a proven sales professional.
- An established customer base. Join a trusted home-services company that has served Phoenix-area homeowners for more than 30 years.
- Opportunities to sell. Work with homeowners already engaging Howard Air & Plumbing for HVAC, plumbing, maintenance, and home-comfort services.
- A growing water quality division. Help us continue building and expanding our residential water treatment offering.
- Technical and operational support. Focus on evaluating the homeowner's needs, designing the right solution, and selling while working alongside an experienced plumbing and installation team.
- Real benefits. Medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, holidays, and ongoing training and development.
- A company built for top performers. We invest in our people, provide the tools to succeed, and reward performance.
What you'll actually be doing:
- Conduct in-home water quality consultations with residential homeowners.
- Perform and explain basic residential water testing, including hardness, chlorine, TDS, and other applicable water-quality measurements.
- Identify homeowner concerns related to hard water, scale, taste, odor, chlorine, drinking water quality, appliance protection, and overall water usage.
- Recommend appropriate residential water treatment solutions based on the home's water conditions and the customer's needs.
- Present and sell:
- Water softeners
- Water conditioners
- Reverse osmosis drinking water systems
- Whole-home filtration systems
- Carbon filtration
- Specialty filtration and related water quality solutions
- Properly size and configure equipment based on household needs and water conditions.
- Develop clear, accurate proposals and present financing and payment options when applicable.
- Confidently ask for the business and close sales in the home.
- Maintain communication with customers throughout the sales and installation process.
- Follow up on open opportunities and maintain an organized sales pipeline.
- Accurately document customer information, recommendations, estimates, and sales activity in company systems.
- Partner with our plumbing, customer service, dispatch, and installation teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Who we're looking for:
- Direct residential water treatment sales experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of reverse osmosis systems, water softeners, water conditioners, and whole-home water filtration.
- Experience performing residential water testing and using the results to recommend appropriate treatment solutions.
- Proven success in in-home consultative sales and closing high-value residential projects.
- Strong understanding of the difference between softening, conditioning, filtration, and drinking water treatment—and the ability to explain those differences simply to a homeowner.
- Comfortable discussing equipment options, system sizing, installation requirements, warranties, financing, and long-term ownership value.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Competitive, self-motivated, organized, and driven by results.
- Comfortable working independently in customers' homes while representing the Howard Air & Plumbing brand professionally.
- Ability to learn and follow Howard Air & Plumbing's sales process and customer experience standards.
- ServiceTitan or similar home-services CRM experience is preferred.
- Water Quality Association (WQA) certification or other industry training is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Flexibility to accommodate residential appointments, including some evenings or weekends when needed.
What success looks like:
You aren't simply selling equipment. You're helping homeowners understand what's actually in their water, why it matters, and which solution makes sense for their home.
Success in this role means earning trust, making technically sound recommendations, creating a great customer experience, consistently closing opportunities, and helping establish Howard Air & Plumbing as a trusted name in residential water treatment throughout the Phoenix market.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and safely enter and move through customers' homes.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb stairs, and access residential plumbing and water-treatment equipment as needed.
- Ability to work in garages, mechanical areas, utility spaces, and other residential environments with varying temperatures and conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Benefits:
- Competitive performance-based compensation
- Uncapped earning potential
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off and holidays
- Ongoing sales and product training
- Career growth and advancement opportunities
- Supportive, team-focused work environment
If you're already successful in residential water treatment sales and are looking for an opportunity to grow with one of Phoenix's most established home-service brands, apply today.
