Each day and every job-site may be different, as you navigate cutting/carrying pipe, fittings, and installation equipment, conduct pressure testing on new and existing systems, and install valve and flow switches. You will also participate in a monthly Howe-facilitated classroom training where will learn how to read and understand blueprints, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and carry out additional assignments as directed. Apprentices also will learn the importance of maintaining their tools, repairing equipment, and keeping their work areas neat, clean, and free of debris.

No prior construction experience is required, but it is helpful. Apprentices must also demonstrate basic skills and knowledge of the trade, as well as a good understanding of materials and tools used in the industry. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
What to expect in the field:
Working in the piping construction industry can be physically demanding. As a Plumbing Apprentice, you must have the physical strength to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50lbs, and have the balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas. Apprentices must also be able to work at height, on ladders or lifts, and in all weather conditions for prolonged periods of time. If offered a position with the company, you will be required to undergo and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
