About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Privacy Engineer to lead the design and implementation of privacy controls across software, cloud, AI, and connected device platforms. The Privacy Engineer will work closely with Design, Product Security, Legal, Compliance, and Product Management teams to ensure personal data is collected, processed, stored, and shared in compliance with applicable privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other global privacy frameworks. Responsible for establishing and leading privacy engineering practices across the organization, driving privacy-by-design adoption, defining technical privacy strategy, and overseeing privacy risk management for products, services, cloud platforms, AI systems, and connected devices.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a deep understanding of privacy regulations and privacy engineering practices.

What You Might Do

  • Implement Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs), data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), and privacy risk assessments.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into technical controls.
  • Support compliance with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, ISO 27701, NIST Privacy Framework, and other global privacy regulations and standards.
  • Assist with privacy audits, regulatory inspections, and customer privacy reviews.
  • Collaborate with the product security team to align privacy and cybersecurity controls.
  • Review system architectures for compliance with privacy requirements.
  • Define requirements for logging, monitoring, access controls, identity management, and data protection mechanisms.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in privacy engineering, security engineering, software development, or related technical roles.
  • 3+ years leading cross-functional privacy initiatives.
  • Experience presenting privacy risk and compliance posture to executive leadership.
  • Strong understanding of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, ISO 27701, NIST Privacy Framework, and other global privacy regulations and standards.
  • Experience conducting PIAs, DPIAs, or privacy risk assessments.
  • Experience implementing privacy controls in cloud environments (Azure/AWS).
  • Knowledge of:
    • Encryption technologies
    • Key management systems
    • Identity and access management (IAM)
    • Data loss prevention (DLP)
    • Data classification techniques

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of AI governance and responsible AI frameworks.
  • Experience with data discovery and privacy management tools such as OneTrust.
  • Understanding of secure software development and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience with:
    • ISO 27001
    • NIST Privacy Framework
    • NIST Cybersecurity Framework
    • SOC 2

Salary: $150,000- $240,000

Compensation & Benefits (Full-Time Employees)

The salary range for this role is listed above. Final salary offered is based upon multiple factors including individual job-related qualifications, education, experience, knowledge and skills.
