Department Description
The CLO Operations team is responsible for reporting data to the Portfolio Manager, Investors, and the Administrative Bank. The Operations team works to guarantee cash, position and information in the software is accurate.
Position Description
HPS is seeking a Loan Closer / Operations candidate with experience in the CLO, leveraged loan and high yield bond market to support the European CLO Operations team in London. The candidate will primarily provide support on closing leveraged loan and high yield bond trades, work closely with third party fund administrators/trustees, and will provide operational support across reconciliations, security setup and more. Based in London, the candidate will be an integral part of the CLO Operations team with long-term growth opportunity, and involvement in a range of responsibilities, while reporting to the Executive Director in London. The individual should be highly organized with strong attention to detail, be able to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Review and complete LMA / LSTA trade documentation to ensure transactions are closed and settled accurately and within deadlines, including reviewing senior credit / intercreditor agreements to ensure compliance with transfer, tax, regulatory and eligibility criteria
- Maintaining unsettled trade reporting trackers, KPIs per counterparty, per market (Primary/Secondary)
- Completion of borrower KYC for new primary trade allocations
- Security entry into portfolio management system – SkyRoad and VPM
- Daily reconciliations of cash and positions between internal systems (IVP) and the Trustee/Custodians
- Processing coupon / interest / principal / corporate action activity on underlying portfolio positions
- High yield bond settlements via Euroclear/Clearstream/DTCC
- Working with internal IT / Tech teams to develop improved processes and efficiency gains
- Ad-hoc special projects as requested by portfolio managers and other internal groups
- Routine interaction with internal teams, corporate service providers, trustees, and administrators
Candidate Profile
- 2-4 years of demonstrated experience within reputable buyside firm, trustee, investment bank or loan closing provider
- Graduate with a bachelor’s degree ideally in a finance or an accounting discipline
- LMA / LSTA Loan Closing experience necessary
- Understanding and familiarity of loan settlement and loan documentation (LMA / LSTA, knowledge of lender / tax status applied in loan transfer documentation)
- Experience working with offshore teams and outsourcing service providers
- Is solutions oriented and has experience of managing/optimizing operational processes
- Is aware of market trends and current industry initiatives that can impact the business
- Must be detail-driven and a natural problem solver, have the resolve to independently research problems and offer solutions
- Ability to manage projects, multi-task and prioritise effectively
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure
- Strong Microsoft Office knowledge (particularly Excel). Skyroad, VPM, Loan IQ, Clearpar, Findox and Bloomberg would be beneficial
