About the Staff Software Engineer, Gen AI at Headspace:
As a Staff Software Engineer, Generative AI at Headspace, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing the company's capabilities in artificial intelligence, particularly in developing, optimizing, and deploying generative AI models. Your work will enable innovative applications of AI that align with Headspace's mission of improving health and happiness worldwide. By developing state-of-the-art frameworks and tools, you will empower engineers, data scientists, and other practitioners to maximize the potential of generative AI across the organization.
What you will do:
- Generative AI Model Development: Lead the design, training, and optimization of large-scale generative AI models to support innovative use cases across Headspace.
- End-to-End AI Solutioning: Own the lifecycle of generative AI initiatives, from ideation to deployment, ensuring robust and scalable production systems.
- Platform Optimization: Build and enhance the generative AI platform using AWS and modern development tools, with a focus on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
- Scalability and Reliability: Ensure the scalability and reliability of generative AI systems by implementing robust CI/CD pipelines, monitoring solutions, and alerting systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to integrate generative AI capabilities into Headspace’s products and services.
- Knowledge Sharing and Mentorship: Guide and mentor team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
What you will bring:
Required Skills:
- 4+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on AI/ML systems, including developing and deploying generative models.
- Proficiency in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and Python.
- Experience with database management / querying, e.g. SQL, MongoDB, etc.
- Deep expertise in AWS and IaC tools such as Terraform, with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience.
- Strong understanding of ML infrastructure, including data pipelines, model serving, and scaling.
- Proven track record of delivering high-impact AI solutions in production environments.
- Experience implementing and maintaining AI/ML best practices, including CI/CD pipelines and operational monitoring.
- Skilled at translating complex technical concepts into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to mentor and uplift team capabilities.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Pay & Benefits:
The base salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to skills and scope required, relevant licensure and certifications, and unique relevant experience and job-related skills. The base salary range for this role is $131,414 - $197,100.
