Software Engineer II

London

Building a team starts with valuing the team. We hire the best of the best to ensure you’re working with people you can constantly learn from. You’re trusted to get your work done your way while testing the limits of what’s possible and what’s next. We work hard to provide a culture where everyone feels supported, and our employees feel it—their votes helped us become one of Newsweek's Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces in 2023.

We also value sports. Not just because of the big wins and highlight-worthy plays, but because of the lasting impact sports can have: the lifelong lessons in teamwork and dedication; the influence of inspiring mentors; the priceless opportunities to play at the next level. Sports can change lives—that’s what we value.

Our team helps the world see sports differently through products that make it easier to capture video, analyze data, share highlights and do a lot more.

Ready to join us?

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our squad that’s working on human performance software. This role will focus on building better integration, so we can better serve the needs of our customers, including sports scientists at multiple levels (from high school to the pros) across a range of sports (e.g., soccer, American football, rugby, basketball).

As an Engineer, you’ll:

  • Work with a cross-functional team. You’ll collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Product, Design and Scrum disciplines to deliver full-stack web features.
  • Develop and deliver. Your team has the autonomy to make a meaningful impact on customers, and deliver game-changing features to push the boundaries of what they can achieve. By taking ownership of the whole user experience, your team will help support our coaches and athletes.
  • Test new ideas. At Hudl, we iterate rapidly, deploying changes to the product hundreds of times a day across our Engineering team. Outside of working on concrete features, you’ll have the opportunity to propose solutions to more ambiguous technical problems and provide guidance to less experienced engineers.

For this role, we're currently considering candidates who live within a commuting distance of our office in London. But with our flexible work policy, there aren't any current requirements for the number of days you come to the office.

Must-Haves

  • Exposure to mature, full-stack web applications. You have several years’ commercial experience building across most or all levels of a web application, from the client-side code, all the way down to the database.
  • Comfortable with uncertainty. You appreciate ambiguous work that has many possible implementation options because it gives you the chance to identify the best solution while balancing quality, consistency and value to customers.
  • Curious. You’ve picked up new technologies and domains on the job—working across myriad layers of the stack energizes you.
  • A strong communicator. You can easily and clearly express yourself. You’re able to convey technical concepts and trade-offs to cross-functional stakeholders

Nice-to-Haves

  • Tech stack knowledge. Our core stack is C#, React, MongoDB and AWS, so experience with these is ideal, whilst software development skills in Java, Kotlin, CSS, HTML or UWP and exposure to frameworks like JSF, or Spring Boot is also a plus.
  • Automation testing. You have some experience and have worked with or built CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to infrastructure tools. You’re comfortable with containerization, deployment and infrastructure as code technologies, like Docker, Kubernettes and Terraform.

Our Role

  • Champion work-life harmony. We’ll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time above any required statutory leave, company-wide holidays and timeout (meeting-free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.
  • Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you’ll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. We’re lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We’ll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you’re at the office or working remotely, we’ll provide you the tech you need to do your best work.
  • Support your wellbeing. Depending on location, we offer medical and retirement benefits for employees—but no matter where you’re located, we have resources like our Employee Assistance Program and employee resource groups to support your mental health.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is displayed below. Where a candidate is placed within this base salary range is determined by experience, skills, education and training required for the job as well as our internal pay equity.

Base Salary Range

£51,000 - £85,000 GBP
