Your Role

We're hiring a Senior Systems Analyst to help us manage and scale Hudl's cloud infrastructure costs and governance practices. You'll embed within our Platform Engineering team and lead our FinOps practice, owning cost reporting, tooling, and optimization work that directly impacts how we build and run software at scale.

As a Senior Systems Analyst, you'll:

  • Own FinOps strategy and execution. You'll drive cloud cost transparency, optimization, and governance across Hudl's AWS infrastructure — from setting up tooling and reporting to building a culture of cost accountability with our engineering teams.
  • Build and maintain cost dashboards. You'll design and own FinOps dashboards that surface actionable insights for engineering leadership, making it easy to understand spend trends and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Partner with engineering. You'll work side-by-side with platform and application engineers to identify and implement right-sizing, reserved instance strategies, commitment-based savings plans, and architectural improvements.
  • Improve our tooling ecosystem. You'll evaluate and manage cloud cost tools (like CloudZero) and build internal automation to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

Location

Time spent collaborating with other Hudlies in-office will be a regular part of how you work. We're currently prioritizing applicants within commuting distance of Lincoln. You'll be expected to work more days in-office than remote, but will have the freedom to coordinate your specific in-office schedule with your team.

Must-Haves

  • Cloud cost expertise. You've spent multiple years managing cloud infrastructure costs at scale — ideally in AWS — and you understand the levers available for optimization (reserved instances, savings plans, right-sizing, architectural tradeoffs).
  • Data fluency. You can build dashboards, write SQL queries, and wrangle data to surface insights that drive action.
  • Cross-functional communication. You know how to translate complex cost data into clear narratives for both engineering teams and business stakeholders.
  • Proactive problem-solver. You don't wait for problems to land in your lap — you identify inefficiencies, propose solutions, and drive them to completion.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Knowledge of our tech stack. Experience with CloudZero, Terraform (via Spacelift), GitHub Actions or AWS Lambda, SQL, DBT, Python, and leveraging APIs for sourcing data and management.
  • FinOps credentials. FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP), or hands-on experience applying FinOps best practices.
  • A software engineering background. Foundational software engineering experience that helps you build solutions, not just analyze them.

Our Role

  • Champion work-life harmony. We'll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time, company-wide holidays and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too. Plus, every five years, we give you a paid sabbatical to unplug and recharge.
  • Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you'll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. We're lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We'll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. We're always investing in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you're at the office or working remotely, we'll provide you the tech stack and hardware to do your best work.
  • Take care of your mental and physical health. Medical plans tailored for you and your family—including vision, dental, and fertility benefits—and stay supported with our EAP and Employee Resource Groups.
  • Contribute to your 401(K). Yep, that's free money. We'll match up to 4% of your own contribution.
