Quality Assurance Engineer

Lincoln, NE, United States; Omaha, NE, United States

At Hudl, we build great teams. We hire the best of the best to ensure you’re working with people you can constantly learn from. You’re trusted to get your work done your way while testing the limits of what’s possible and what’s next. We work hard to provide a culture where everyone feels supported, and our employees feel it—their votes helped us become one of the Top 100 Inspiring Workplaces.

We think of ourselves as the team behind the team, supporting the lifelong impact sports can have: the lessons in teamwork and dedication; the influence of inspiring coaches; and the opportunities to reach new heights. That’s why we help teams from all over the world see their game differently. Our products make it easier for coaches and athletes at any level to capture video, analyze data, share highlights and more.

Ready to join us?

Your Role

We're looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our performance analysis squad, a team dedicated to building best-in-class tools that help coaches and analysts turn game video and data into winning insights. You'll help us build and scale the products that power film breakdowns, tagging, stats, and reporting, so every clip, metric, and playlist is accurate, fast, and reliable. In this role, you'll lead testing efforts within your squad, focusing on both prevention and efficiency so that coaches and analysts have a seamless experience, from game day through the film room.

As a QA Engineer, you’ll:

  • Champion squad quality. Attend and actively voice quality focus in squad sprint scrum ceremonies, understand the core problem being solved and ensure backlog defects are prioritized.
  • Drive test strategy. Create test plans, implement squad quality best practices, use data to drive high-quality outcomes and ensure post-mortems or root cause analyses (RCAs) are created for all hotfixes.
  • Test and merge. Leverage multiple testing approaches—including automated, exploratory and manual testing—from start to finish, ensuring sub-defects are resolved and merge builds run cleanly.
  • Grow professionally. Dedicate time to your own professional development and skill-building.

Location

Time spent collaborating with other Hudlies in-office will be a regular part of how you work. We’re currently prioritizing applicants within commuting distance of Lincoln or Omaha, Nebraska. You’ll be expected to work more days in-office than remote, but will have the freedom to coordinate your specific in-office schedule with your team.

Must-Haves

  • Experienced. You have 2+ years of software testing experience and have worked in fast-paced environments with changing deadlines.
  • Technical. You have solid experience designing and executing tests across the stack, from front-end UI validation to in-depth API testing, including proven, hands-on experience and proficiency with key languages (e.g. Python, Typescript) and modern automation frameworks (e.g. Playwright, Selenium).
  • Mobile testing exposure. You have experience testing iOS or Android applications and an understanding of mobile-specific performance, UI nuances and automation using Appium, Detox, and/or React Native tooling and the associated APIs that apps rely on (protocols such as GraphQL, REST, etc.).
  • A team player. You work effectively within a global team, leading with empathy and clear communication to help your squad achieve the best outcomes.
  • Problem solver. You can navigate technical and team challenges during changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Naturally curious. You think outside the box by exploring creative solutions to break software.
  • User-focused. You think critically about the user experience and easily relate to our users.
  • Constantly learning. You are passionate about learning and open to growth areas.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Domain experience. You’ve worked in a SaaS environment or have a background in a STEM-related field.
  • AI Tool Exposure. Curiosity and exposure to leveraging AI tools (such as LLMs, specialized coding assistants, or test data generators) to increase efficiency in documentation, test case creation, or initial failure diagnosis.
  • Agile fluency. Experience working within a Scrum framework and participating in sprint ceremonies will help you jump right in.

Our Role

  • Champion work-life harmony. We'll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time, company-wide holidays and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too. Plus, every five years, we give you a paid sabbatical to unplug and recharge.
  • Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you'll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. We're lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We'll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. We're always investing in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you're at the office or working remotely, we'll provide you the tech stack and hardware to do your best work.
  • Take care of your mental and physical health. Medical plans tailored for you and your family—including vision, dental, and fertility benefits—and stay supported with our EAP and Employee Resource Groups.
  • Contribute to your 401(K). Yep, that's free money. We'll match up to 4% of your own contribution.
