Your Role

The Sr. Marketing Manager for Basketball & Ice Hockey is a critical pod leader and individual contributor, responsible for the strategic development, execution, and optimisation of the basketball and ice hockey marketing calendar. This role's primary focus is on the Elite basketball segment, driving brand awareness, increasing demand, and positioning Hudl as the go-to sports technology provider for Elite buyers across analytics, human performance, and player recruitment personas — with secondary ownership of the ice hockey pod and its outputs. The ideal candidate is highly strategic, execution-focused, and deeply knowledgeable about the elite basketball landscape.

As the Sr. Marketing Manager for Basketball & Ice Hockey, you will:

  • Own strategy and execution. Lead the marketing strategy for elite basketball and ice hockey, creating quarterly plans with KPIs to drive brand awareness, demand generation, and customer retention through integrated, multi-channel campaigns. You'll ensure this strategy aligns with overall business goals by collaborating closely with sales and strategy teams.
  • Lead the pod. Take ownership of the basketball and ice hockey pod's output — guiding campaign development, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining a strong go-to-market process and cross-functional alignment.
  • Champion a test-and-learn culture. Implement a test-and-learn environment where you challenge assumptions, use data to optimize campaigns, scale what works, and continuously improve our approach.
  • Partner and collaborate. Work with central marketing functions (web, content, social, design) and product marketing teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality outputs for product launches and feature rollouts. Maintain strong relationships with leaders in Product Management, Customer Success, and Support to ensure business alignment.
  • Manage external partners. Manage external agencies in partnership with the Paid Media Manager, ensuring alignment on strategy, market insights, and performance expectations.
  • Understand the customer deeply. Utilize insights from Product Management, Sales, Customer Success, Support, and Decision Science to maintain a strong understanding of the elite buyer. Dive into customer research and product engagement metrics to inform the team's efforts.
  • Analyze and report. Track and report on marketing performance, providing clear insights and recommendations to stakeholders based on key metrics such as CTR, CPL, CRO, and ROAS.
  • Manage budget and resources. Ensure marketing budget and resources deliver positive ROI by evaluating channel mix and progress toward key business metrics

Time spent collaborating with other Hudlies in-office will be a regular part of how you work. We're currently prioritizing applicants within commuting distance of Lincoln, Nebraska. You'll be expected to work more days in-office than remote, but will have the freedom to coordinate your specific in-office schedule with your team.

Must-Haves

  • Experienced. You have 5–8 years of marketing experience, an understanding of marketing strategy and go-to-market approaches, and a bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Basketball domain knowledge. You have strong knowledge of the elite basketball landscape and the relevant buyer personas: analytics, human performance, and player recruitment.
  • B2B marketing expertise. You have proven experience marketing to elite sports organizations in a B2B environment, with a track record of driving demand and retention.
  • Digital marketing expert. You have deep expertise in digital marketing channels including SEO/SEM, PPC, email marketing and automation, and social media, with a proven ability to devise campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate elite buyers.
  • Data fluent. You have experience with web analytics applications (such as Google Analytics), optimizing campaigns through A/B testing, and leveraging data to analyze and report on performance.
  • Autonomous and operationally strong. You are self-motivated with strong leadership skills and a proven ability to manage time, prioritize across a dual-sport remit, and deliver high-quality work in a dynamic organization.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Ice hockey knowledge. Familiarity with the elite ice hockey market and its buyer landscape.
  • Vendor management. Experience managing external vendors as an extension of an internal marketing team.
  • SaaS experience. Experience working in a Software as a Service (SaaS) environment.

Our Role

  • Champion work-life harmony. We'll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time, company-wide holidays and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too. Plus, every five years, we give you a paid sabbatical to unplug and recharge.
  • Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you'll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. We're lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We'll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. We're always investing in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you're at the office or working remotely, we'll provide you the tech stack and hardware to do your best work.
  • Take care of your mental and physical health. Medical plans tailored for you and your family—including vision, dental, and fertility benefits—and stay supported with our EAP and Employee Resource Groups.
