About Us

Hungryroot is using AI to build the most consumer-centric food and wellness company to ever exist. We act as your personal assistant for healthy living—getting to know your goals, lifestyle, and budget, and recommending and delivering healthy groceries, easy recipes, and essential supplements for you and your family.

It’s the easiest way to eat healthy, achieve your goals, save time, and discover new foods. We believe food is the foundation of health, convenience should not mean compromise, and that everyone is unique in how they eat and live. That’s why we’re building a future in which healthy living is both easy and enjoyable.

Hungryroot is a distributed team of top talent across 28+ U.S. states. While we have a headquarters in New York City, our remote-first culture emphasizes collaboration, team-building, and flexibility. Expect regular virtual team events, strong ownership and accountability, and an annual company retreat.

About the Role

We’re looking for an ambitious, curious problem-solver to keep our fulfillment operations running smoothly during evening hours. You’ll monitor our fulfillment platform and its integrations, investigate issues as they come up, and be the first point of contact for our fulfillment sites during the second shift.

You don’t need to be a software engineer. We’re looking for someone who understands how fulfillment works, or is eager to learn it, and who uses AI tools like Claude and Cursor to dig into problems and understand what comes back. You’ll use AI-assisted coding in our Python and Django codebase to investigate issues, make small fixes, and build new features and reporting, so you can grow into bigger responsibilities.

This is an entry-level role. New grads and early-career candidates are welcome, and internships, co-ops, and project experience count.

Schedule

  • Mon-Fri, 3-11pm ET. The first month is 9am-5pm ET for training.
  • Weekends: Every other weekend, you’ll be the point of contact for issues and monitor our order management system during the Sunday order release, as well as any other issues that may arise throughout the weekend
  • Work remotely anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor fulfillment systems, integrations, and site requests during evening hours
  • Investigate stuck or failed orders, inventory mismatches, and shipping issues using SQL, logs, and AI-assisted tools
  • Use AI-assisted coding (Claude, Cursor) to read and understand our Python/Django code, make small fixes, and build scripts and automation
  • Escalate complex issues to the Sr. Manager of Fulfillment Systems with a clear summary: what happened, impact, what you’ve tried, and recommended next steps
  • Document fixes and improve runbooks so repeat issues get solved faster
  • Support building new features, reporting, and process improvements during the day

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (industrial engineering, computer science, supply chain, etc)
  • Exposure to fulfillment, warehouse, or supply chain operations (internships, co-ops, coursework, and WMS/OMS experience all count)
  • Hands-on use of AI-assisted coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot), and the judgment to review, understand, and verify the code they produce
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Basic familiarity with Python
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • A willingness to learn, an open mind, and the ambition to grow

Nice to Haves

  • Industrial engineering or supply chain background
  • Experience with Python, Django, JSON, and APIs
  • ERP or WMS experience
  • Jira, Confluence, or similar collaboration tools

Perks & Benefits

  • Remote-first: work from home, work from our NYC office, work from anywhere in the U.S. - you decide!
  • Equity
  • Unlimited vacation policy
  • Universal paid parental leave
  • Monthly Hungryroot credit for delicious, healthy groceries
  • Comprehensive health, vision, dental, and life insurance
  • 401k with Company Match
  • A work from home stipend to support your initial home-office setup

Expected Pay Range
$70,000 - $90,000
