About Us

Hungryroot is using AI to build the most consumer-centric food and wellness company to ever exist. We act as your personal assistant for healthy living—getting to know your goals, lifestyle, and budget, and recommending and delivering healthy groceries, easy recipes, and essential supplements for you and your family.

It’s the easiest way to eat healthy, achieve your goals, save time, and discover new foods. We believe food is the foundation of health, convenience should not mean compromise, and that everyone is unique in how they eat and live. That’s why we’re building a future in which healthy living is both easy and enjoyable.

Hungryroot is a distributed team of top talent across 28+ U.S. states. While we have a headquarters in New York City, our remote-first culture emphasizes collaboration, team-building, and flexibility. Expect regular virtual team events, strong ownership and accountability, and an annual company retreat.

About the Role

We are seeking a Director of FP&A to own Hungryroot's financial planning, forecasting, performance reporting and serves as a strategic partner to the executive team. This role will report to the CFO and manage a team of FP&A analysts.

You'll have an opportunity to turn our rich customer and operational data into clear insights that shape how we grow, allocate capital, and improve unit economics. The ideal candidate will be able to work cross-functionally across a complex organization and be able to present to Senior Leadership, Board or Investors. If you want to help us change how people grocery shop and eat for the better, we encourage you to apply!

Important: This is a hands-on role! At Hungryroot, we are all technical individual contributors in our respective fields and as such, this role requires a deep understanding of hands-on financial modeling and financial analytics.

Team and Infrastructure

  • Hire, develop, and mentor a high-performing FP&A team
  • Improve planning tools, processes, and data infrastructure, working closely with Accounting and Data/Analytics

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, private equity, or corporate strategy, including 3+ years leading an FP&A function or team
  • Expert financial modeling skills, including driver-based and cohort-based models

  • A track record of influencing senior leaders and presenting to boards or investors

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel  and GSuite (Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.)
  • Experience at a high-growth consumer, e-commerce, subscription, or CPG company
  • Clear, concise communication: you turn complex analysis into simple recommendations
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field

Nice to Have

  • Experience in grocery, food, meal kits, or a supply-chain-heavy business
  • Familiarity with marketplace or subscription economics, including cohort retention and LTV modeling
