About Us

Hungryroot is using AI to build the most consumer-centric food and wellness company to ever exist. We act as your personal assistant for healthy living—getting to know your goals, lifestyle, and budget, and recommending and delivering healthy groceries, easy recipes, and essential supplements for you and your family.

It’s the easiest way to eat healthy, achieve your goals, save time, and discover new foods. We believe food is the foundation of health, convenience should not mean compromise, and that everyone is unique in how they eat and live. That’s why we’re building a future in which healthy living is both easy and enjoyable.

Hungryroot is a distributed team of top talent across 28+ U.S. states. While we have a headquarters in New York City, our remote-first culture emphasizes collaboration, team-building, and flexibility. Expect regular virtual team events, strong ownership and accountability, and an annual company retreat.

About the Role

Hungryroot is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our growing team. As a Senior Product Designer on the Digital team, you will be focused on improving our digital experience for our customers. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about designing products that make eating healthy easy, personal, and sustainable.

You’ll join a team of designers that collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including product managers, engineers, researchers, and analytics. You’ll be an integral part of the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch, and will drive the design strategy and vision for the app and website.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end experiences: Lead the design of complex experiences across web and native iOS, from problem definition and discovery through prototyping, launch, and iteration.
  • Start with the customer and the right problem: Use research, feedback, behavioral data, and competitive insights to understand customer needs, challenge assumptions, and define what’s worth solving, balancing customer, business, and technical constraints.
  • Deliver exceptional craft: Create intuitive, polished experiences with strong interaction design, information architecture, and accessibility, grounded in Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and native iOS patterns, along with desktop and mobile web interfaces.
  • Prototype with motion and AI: Go beyond static mockups with high-fidelity, interactive prototypes using tools including, but not limited to Lottielab, Jitter, and ProtoPie. Use AI tools like Claude and Cursor to explore ideas and bridge design and engineering, applying strong judgment to AI-generated output.
  • Design for cohesion and scale: Keep experiences consistent across the customer journey, and contribute to the design system (components, interaction patterns, motion principles) rather than creating one-off solutions.
  • Drive measurable impact with partners: Work with Product, Engineering, Research, and Analytics to define success, build alignment through evidence-based storytelling, and iterate based on experiments, feedback, and performance.
  • Raise the bar for the team: Participate in critiques, share knowledge, and contribute to a culture of high standards, curiosity, and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years designing digital products across responsive web and native mobile, with strong hands-on iOS experience and familiarity with Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines, native navigation patterns, and gestures.
  • Exceptional UX, interaction, and visual design skills, with a strong grasp of information architecture, usability, accessibility, and modern design patterns.
  • Strong motion and interaction design experience, including animation, microinteractions, and high-fidelity prototyping, using tools like Figma, Lottielab, Jitter, or ProtoPie.
  • Advanced Figma proficiency, including prototyping, component-based design, and design systems.
  • Strong product thinking, the ability to turn customer insights, business goals, and technical considerations into thoughtful solutions, with experience conducting or partnering on research, usability testing, and experimentation.
  • Experience using AI tools like Claude or Cursor for design exploration, rapid prototyping, or faster product workflows.
  • Independent leadership, comfortable navigating ambiguity, identifying opportunities, and moving projects forward with minimal direction.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills: able to articulate design decisions, influence stakeholders, and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and Analytics.
  • A portfolio showing the full story, problem-solving, exploration, rationale, iteration, and measurable impact, ideally including interactive prototypes or motion work.
  • A growth mindset, attention to detail, openness to feedback, and a desire to elevate both your own work and your teammates
