United States of America

Title: Staff Platform Engineer

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Location: Remote US

Compensation Range: $200,000 to $220,000 base plus bonus and equity

What We Do

Cybercrime is growing, and more businesses are getting hit by threats that used to target only the biggest organizations. That pushes defenders like us to operate at the highest level, and it deepens our need for good people who want to make a meaningful impact.

Founded in 2015 by former NSA cyber operators, Huntress is a remote-first team working to make enterprise-grade cybersecurity accessible to businesses of all sizes. We work closely with security teams and service providers protecting complex environments, often without the time or headcount to handle it all. That’s why we build our technology in-house and back it with a 24/7 human-led Security Operations Center (SOC). As a result, our platform is never disconnected from the experts who manage it, ensuring our customers' protection.

Huntress now secures more than 5M endpoints and 11M identities worldwide. Those numbers keep growing because more businesses rely on us to help carry the load and operate with more confidence. Every day, you can see that commitment in how we stand with our customers and how we show up for each other.

What You'll Do

Huntress is expanding our Platform Engineering team and looking for a Staff Platform Engineer who brings unshakeable resilience to complex infrastructure challenges. In this role, you will build, monitor, and scale the core cloud infrastructure supporting our security platform. You will step up to own platform infrastructure resilience and tackle complex problems across multi-region environments. Variety is built into this role: one week you might author custom Kubernetes admission controllers, and the next you are tackling multi-region capacity failover automation or tracking down obscure memory leaks in production pods. AI coding agents are part of how this team works, and you will be expected to use them to move faster without loosening the bar on what reaches production.

You will get a full handle on our infrastructure stack and drive high-impact roadmap initiatives that directly keep our production environment rock-solid. We do not wait for permission to fix things here. You will spot platform bottlenecks, step up with concrete solutions, and stay unshakeable under system chaos. Beyond immediate infrastructure work, you will build a strong reputation across the engineering organization as a trusted technical partner who delivers measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and enhance cloud infrastructure across multi-region and multi-cloud environments to improve service reliability, cost, and capacity failover
  • Author custom Kubernetes tools, controllers, and infrastructure code using Terraform, Go, Python, or Ruby
  • Support and extend observability infrastructure using Datadog to give deep visibility into system health and platform performance
  • Diagnose and fix complex production issues, performance bottlenecks, and resource constraints across cloud environments
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to guide software architecture choices and eliminate infrastructure pain points

What You Bring to the Team

  • 7+ years of experience managing Linux-based cloud infrastructure
  • Deep expertise in multi-region or multi-cloud resilience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience orchestrating production workloads in Kubernetes
  • Strong coding proficiency in Go, Ruby, or Python, with a mindset focused on building scalable infrastructure tools
  • Proven track record operating enterprise observability tools like Datadog to diagnose and resolve performance issues
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding agents, with sound judgement about where their output needs verification
  • Experience managing automated infrastructure provisioning using Terraform (or any similar IaC tool)
  • Clear communication style with a track record of collaborating across engineering teams to solve complex platform problems

What We Offer:

  • 100% remote work environment - since our founding in 2015
  • Generous paid time off policy, including vacation, sick time, and paid holidays
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave
  • Highly competitive and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits plans
  • 401(k) with a 5% contribution regardless of employee contribution
  • Life and Disability insurance plans
  • Stock options for all full-time employees
  • One-time $500 reimbursement for building/upgrading home office
  • Annual allowance for education and professional development assistance
  • $75 USD/month digital reimbursement
  • Access to the BetterUp platform for coaching, personal, and professional growth

U.S. Standard Demographic Questions

You’re used to companies asking you for your demographic information - but what do they actually do with it? We’re transparent here at Huntress, and as a leader in cybersecurity, we’d be working against ourselves not to tell you exactly what we’ll do with the information you give us.

We’re building an inclusive, accessible culture where everyone can come to work feeling safe and valued. The answers to these demographic questions help us do that. Completing this information is entirely voluntary, and any answers, including choosing not to answer, will not be shared with anyone involved in hiring decisions or affect your candidacy in any way. The data is collected in aggregate (meaning your responses will not be tied to you),  and we use it to learn, improve and ensure we’re doing our part to build a company culture we can all be proud of.

We do discriminate against hackers who try to exploit small businesses.
