ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Deputy Chief of Staff, you will work directly with the CEO and oversee multiple cross-functional projects while supporting day-to-day operations for our Chief Executive Officer. You will be working on special initiatives, cross-departmental communication, top-level business unit priorities and goals, strategic planning and processes. This is a demanding role, where you will work closely with the Chief of Staff and the CEO. You should be ready to wear many hats in Operations, Finance, Product, and more. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who can combine meticulous planning & organization, analytical rigor, extreme diligence, and an obsessive focus on outcomes. The Deputy Chief of Staff should have a strong entrepreneurial mindset, be comfortable getting into the weeds, and be excited about intense, impactful work that leads to an accelerated career progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Own key operational processes (such as weekly leadership meetings, All Hands, and OKR reviews), including preparing agendas, facilitating the discussions, documenting notes and action items, and closing out follow ups.
- Create briefing materials in collaboration with business stakeholders, to ensure the CEO is prepped for meetings and ensure timely follow-up on meeting actions.
- Play a key role in the day-to-day tracking of our company and departmental OKRs.
- Act as a cross-functional liaison for the CEO.
- Act as a thought partner to business unit leadership, proactively identifying risks and opportunities to shape our products and improve internal operations.
- Serve as a program Manager on special projects for the CEO.
- Partner with the Chief of Staff and CEO to define business priorities, drive execution of key initiatives, and create alignment between and within teams.
- Help develop overall business unit strategy, business development priorities, and internal operating models.
- Drive weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual planning processes for the whole company.
- Perform analyses and provide recommendations to facilitate effective business unit decision making.
- And other duties as assigned.
ABOUT YOU
- This role is unique, and we are open to considering candidates with 2-5 years of experience in highly strategic, analytical and operational roles such as the following:
- Associate or analyst at a top-tier consulting firm or investment bank
- Business development or business operations at a major tech company
- Officer in the U.S. Military with demonstrated ability leading teams and supporting more senior officers
- Assistant or advisor to a Senior Executive
- Legislative assistant or press secretary to a U.S. Senator or Congressman
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and initiatives and establish credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
- Able to synthesize complex details into accessible and precise insights.
- Entrepreneurial and driven: runs through walls to get it done, and track record of high efficiency/output.
- Ambition is a big part of the role. We want someone that can grow into a leader at this company, not an assistant.
- A strong orientation towards outcomes, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get the job done. This is not a standard 9-5 role, and a successful candidate will be expected to be available outside of normal working hours.
- Ability to learn quickly and maintain high standards in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
