ABOUT THE ROLE
Hut 8 is a leading provider of colocation data center solutions, offering state-of-the-art facilities to support the digital infrastructure needs of businesses across various industries. We are committed to delivering reliable, secure, and efficient data center services to our clients, ensuring seamless operation of their critical IT infrastructure. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Operator to join our team in Kelowna. The Building Operator will play a key role in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our colocation data center facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facility management, mechanical and electrical systems, and a passion for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections of the data center facility to identify and address any maintenance or operational issues.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including HVAC system checks, electrical system inspections, and plumbing repairs.
- Monitor and maintain environmental systems to ensure optimal operating conditions for IT equipment.
- Respond promptly to equipment failures or alarms, troubleshooting issues and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance or repair work.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and vendor contracts.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Participate in on-call rotation schedule for after-hours emergencies and maintenance activities.
- And other duties as assigned.
ABOUT YOU
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in building operations, preferably in a data center or similar critical facility environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
- Experience with building automation and monitoring systems (BMS/BAS).
- Technical certification or diploma in a related field (e.g., HVAC, electrical, facilities management) is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as required.
ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is onsite at our HPC location in Kelowna, BC. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
This role has a pay range of $45,000 - $65,000 CAD.
