ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Critical Infrastructure Lead to join our Facility Operations team at Hut 8. In this critical role, you will apply your engineering expertise to ensure the smooth operation and optimization of our state-of-the-art data center facilities. From overseeing installations to maintaining critical infrastructure, you’ll be at the forefront of driving efficiency, minimizing downtime, and supporting our mission of delivering reliable, high-performance solutions. Some of the key responsibilities you should expect include the following:
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and renovation of data center facilities to ensure optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.
- Apply engineering principles to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize production delays.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement facility upgrades and modifications.
- Monitor and maintain critical systems, including HVAC, power distribution, and cooling infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted data center operations.
- Manage facility-related projects, including timelines, budgets, and vendor coordination, to ensure successful delivery.
- Analyze facility performance data to identify areas for optimization, improve efficiency, and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all facility operations and engineering activities.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including facility layouts, standard operating procedures, maintenance schedules, and engineering reports.
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent certificates from a technical school/program is preferred but not required.
- Proven experience in facility engineering, preferably in a data center or 24/7 operations environment.
- Strong understanding of critical systems, including HVAC, PLCs, medium and low voltage power distribution, and cooling systems.
- Experience with liquid-to-chip cooling devices and their associated support infrastructure is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in engineering software tools and familiarity with data center management platforms is preferred but not required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on optimizing systems and minimizing downtime.
- Strong project management abilities, including budgeting, scheduling, and vendor coordination.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory compliance for data center facilities.
- Ability to work as a member of a fast-paced, collaborative, and high-performing team is paramount to this role – your success in this role will not just come from how hard you work as an individual, but how strong of a team you help create across the facility.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- You are intellectually curious and enjoy training others around you when you learn something new.
- Thrive in an environment that forces you to get your hands dirty while also spending time behind the computer documenting your findings and communicating effectively across written and verbal mediums.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. on occasion and can spend extended periods of time on your feet.
- Due to the nature of the 24/7 operations of the data center, this role will sometimes require work outside of normal business hours, including on-call responsibilities on some occasions.
