Business Development Manager - Food Ingredients

OPPORTUNITY

**This is a national search with cross-country travel. Candidates must be located near a metro area with access to an airport. 

The primary purpose of this position is to grow Hydrite’s market share in food ingredients within identified geographic areas across a diversified range of food manufacturing customers.  Target profitable new business, and the development / expansion of our existing product portfolio. This includes helping to facilitate and accomplish the goals that have been identified as critical to our success for maintaining and growing IPAC Sales within our Food Segment.  Will require internal collaboration with Food – Sales, Procurement, and Product Management.   

As a Business Development Manager, primary responsibilities include:

  • Deliver annual margin objectives by leading the full sales cycle—prospecting, building a robust pipeline, and executing contracts to secure new customers.
  • Shape and execute strategic plans for your territory, aligning initiatives with broader organizational goals.
  • Develop business analyses and profit models for new growth opportunities to ensure strong margin contributions.
  • Monitor and refine business development strategies to maintain and grow key accounts effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and timely account data in Salesforce/CRM to support informed decision-making.
  • Negotiate long-term agreements with target corporations to strengthen partnerships and secure sustainable revenue streams.
  • Build influential industry relationships to accelerate growth and enhance Hydrite’s brand visibility in the region.
  • Maximize field engagement (minimum two days per week) to drive account closures, uncover new opportunities, and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Manage pricing strategies for ingredients and commodities to optimize profitability and expand market share.
  • Communicate actionable insights to Sales Management, Procurement, and Product Management to expedite deal closures.
  • Oversee development of impactful sales presentations for major accounts, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Maintain active involvement in key industry associations to stay ahead of market trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborate across teams to balance workloads and provide backup support when needed.
  • Foster seamless communication with all Hydrite departments to ensure alignment and success of branch initiatives.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • This position reports to the Executive Director - Food Ingredients

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university is required; technical degree in the sciences strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years related experience in food industry, food chemical or chemical sales.
  • Possess mechanical aptitude and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Power Point, Word, and Excel required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
  • Must have communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
