PRODUCT APPLICATIONS MANAGER - WATER TREATEMENT
The primary purpose of this position is to lead the wastewater technical service function—partnering closely with Water and Manufactured Solutions sales teams to deliver expert support, drive new business growth, and protect existing accounts. The position plays a key role in advancing Hydrite’s vision to be the most trusted, respected, and sought-after provider of solutions that ensure customer success.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Partner with Sales and Account Managers to prioritize technical service needs, supporting both account retention and new business development.
- Provide hands-on technical expertise, including plant evaluations, jar testing, and trial support, to optimize customer solutions and drive growth.
- Lead the strategy, development, and performance of wastewater product lines to meet evolving application needs.
- Manage product lifecycle and profitability, including formulations, pricing, margin optimization, and new product development (Optiva projects).
- Maintain and continuously improve the Water Treatment Product Resource Master to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Collaborate with Purchasing to optimize inventory levels, reduce costs, and enhance product performance, including identifying alternative suppliers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with chemical suppliers to source innovative, cost-effective solutions.
- Act as a key liaison across internal teams (Technical Center, Equipment Group, Purchasing, Product Information) to align resources and deliver seamless support.
- Support Sales with technical input for proposals and service reporting to strengthen customer value propositions.
- Effectively manage time, priorities, and service schedules to deliver responsive and high-impact technical support.
- Champion Hydrite’s Standard of Excellence, ensuring high-quality service to both internal and external customers.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
- This position reports to the ATS Program Manager.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Four year technical degree required (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering).
- Three years industry experience preferred with emphasis on the selection and testing of various coagulant and polymer blends for a wide array of wastewater streams.
- Must be self-motivated and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess strong problem solving skills, sales ability and be technically competent in wastewater chemical applications.
- Must possess strong “people” skills, such as presenting to groups and communicating effectively with customers and Account Managers.
- Ability to gather information and make decisions in a timely manner.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Power Point, Word and Excel required.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Position requires extensive travel and frequent overnight stays.
- Driving or riding in an automobile or aircraft for 3 to 6 hours at a time.
- Standing for extended periods of 3 to 4 hours.
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and carry at least 20-30 feet.
- 12-14 hour workdays may be required as a result of travel and customer commitments.
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, bend, reach and climb stairs occasionally.
- Ability to type on a computer for 2 to 3 hours daily.
- Ability to work in conditions with unpleasant odors and surroundings.

- Work with other staff members to maintain workload balances. Provide back-up support as necessary.
- Support effective communication with all Hydrite departments where responsibilities overlap to ensure success of the branch team.
