Head of Brand & Product Marketing (Cape Town)

Cape Town | Hybrid

ABOUT US

HyperionDev is one of the largest providers of accelerated tech education in EMEA and one of the oldest providers of ‘coding bootcamps’ in the world. We work with top universities such as Imperial College London, The London School of Economics, The University of Edinburgh, and Stellenbosch University to deliver structured technical courses and bootcamps that accelerate people into fulfilling tech careers. We’ve been recognised as one of the top education technology scaleups in the world and gained the financial backing of Meta (previously Facebook), which recognised us as the most socially impactful startup operating in Africa, where we initially started our work.

We’re also home to Longdue, an independent narrative game studio incubated within HyperionDev. Longdue crafts psychologically rich, story-driven RPGs that challenge players to navigate complex moral worlds and deeply human stories. Inspired by games like Disco Elysium, Longdue is in the early stages of developing a bold new RPG IP, with a focus on world-building, narrative depth, and artistic innovation. While HyperionDev focuses on transforming education and careers through technology, Longdue carries the same mission-driven DNA into the world of games, storytelling with purpose and resonance.

Together, HyperionDev and Longdue share infrastructure, support functions, and a deep commitment to pushing boundaries in their respective industries.

At HyperionDev, we are dedicated to closing the global tech skills gap and expanding the possibilities of digital creativity. Our model — combining human mentorship, scalable tech infrastructure, and access-driven partnerships — has helped us reach millions of learners a year from over 60 countries. We’ve partnered with government bodies such as the UK’s Department for Education, who provide scholarships for students to study on our bootcamps and gain employment at companies such as AstraZeneca and the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS).

HyperionDev is backed by nearly 2000 investors, having raised the largest crowdfunding round of funding for an edtech company in history. As a primarily bootstrapped, profitable, and scale-up tech business, join us as we play our part in making the world a more stable, safer, and fair place through both education and interactive storytelling.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Head of Brand and Product Marketing, you’ll lead branding and product marketing initiatives across HyperionDev’s education technology offerings and Longdue’s upcoming video game projects. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on creative direction, overseeing brand storytelling, campaign ideation, and go-to-market planning across two very different, but equally mission-driven, brands.

On the HyperionDev side, you’ll evolve the identity and messaging of one of the world’s top coding bootcamp providers. On the Longdue side, you’ll shape the launch strategy, campaign storytelling, and go-to-market materials for an ambitious, narrative-first RPG - supporting a team of world-class creatives.

You’ll lead a cross-functional studio team, including content creators, designers, and product marketers, to craft cohesive brand narratives, deliver high-impact creative campaigns, and ensure product success across education and entertainment. This is a rare opportunity to shape creative strategy across both the edtech and indie games space, applying your expertise in two dynamic and highly creative environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Brand Strategy: Build and refine the architecture of the HyperionDev brand and its sub-brands — including Longdue Games — defining brand vision, equity, and value propositions.

Product Marketing: Lead the product marketing team to understand customer insights, create positioning strategies, and develop messaging for product launches.

Campaign Management: Lead end-to-end development of cross-channel campaigns for product launches, events, and brand awareness, spanning both HyperionDev bootcamps and Longdue’s IP. Work closely with internal creatives and studio teams to bring campaigns from concept through execution — including website, CRM, social media, and PR assets.

Creative Direction: Lead creative ideation sessions and set the vision for all campaign storytelling and visual identity. Oversee the creative development process and provide detailed, constructive feedback to designers, writers, and external agencies — ensuring every campaign aligns with brand values and exceeds creative standards.

Market Research: Conduct ongoing market and audience research to refine positioning, identify trends, and maintain competitive edge.

Studio Collaboration: Act as the central creative lead for the studio team, working closely with artists, narrative designers, and marketers to shape and elevate campaign materials.

Cross-functional leadership: Partner with admissions, product, careers, and game development teams to align go-to-market strategies and support revenue generation.

Content Strategy: Oversee content marketing efforts for both performance and brand campaigns, managing calendars and ensuring alignment across all platforms.

Events and Activations: Plan and execute brand activations, roadshows, and events that engage key audiences and reinforce brand identity.

Team Management: Hire, manage, and mentor a growing team of marketers, copywriters, and designers. Oversee relationships with agencies and freelancers, ensuring work is high-quality, on-brand, and creatively ambitious.
