Investment Strategy - Associate

About the Role

iCapital is seeking an Associate to join the Investment Strategy team and contribute to research across global public and private markets, alternative investments, disruptive technologies, and thematic investing. This role will support the firm's efforts to deliver differentiated market insights while helping advisors and clients navigate an increasingly complex investment landscape through combining investment research expertise with data analytics capabilities. This individual will help to produce market commentary, supporting white papers and outlooks by building analytical models, and leveraging modern tools such as Python, AI-enabled research workflows, and financial datasets to enhance research efficiency and investment intelligence. This role will work at the intersection of macro trends, portfolio strategy, private markets, and innovation within a fast-growing fintech platform.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct macroeconomic, sector, thematic, and cross-asset research across public and private markets, including equities, fixed income, currencies, commodities, private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, and hedge fund strategies.
  • Track policy developments, capital flows, fundraising activity, valuations, and secular themes such as artificial intelligence, energy transition, demographic shifts, and deglobalization to identify investment opportunities and market signals.
  • Research, draft, and support the production of market commentary, quarterly outlooks, thematic reports, white papers, executive presentations, advisor education materials, and thought leadership content for internal and client-facing audiences.
  • Build and maintain financial models, quantitative analyses, and investment dashboards utilizing Excel, Bloomberg, Python, and other analytical tools.
  • Leverage data analytics, AI-enabled research tools, alternative data sources, and large market datasets to generate investment insights, improve research processes, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with investment teams and senior leadership to frame research questions, synthesize complex information, and deliver executive-ready insights under tight timelines.
  • Assist in establishing scalable and repeatable research processes while maintaining a comprehensive knowledge base of market, thematic, and private markets intelligence.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, private markets, alternatives, asset management, investment research, or investment strategy
  • Demonstrated research experience across public or private markets, with a strong interest in alternative investments and portfolio construction
  • Strong understanding of private markets, including private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, and hedge fund strategies
  • Experience with data analytics, quantitative research, and financial modeling
  • Working knowledge of Python and its application to financial analysis, data visualization, automation, and investment research
  • Familiar with AI-powered research tools, machine learning concepts, or modern analytical workflows is preferred
  • Knowledge of PitchBook, Preqin, Macrobond, FactSet, Bloomberg or similar market and alternative investment data platforms is preferred
  • Able to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and maintain exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex investment and data-driven insights for a variety of audiences
  • Comfortable crafting executive-level presentations and client-facing materials
  • Passion for global markets, private markets, innovation, and emerging technologies
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities

Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $130,000. iCapital offers a compensation package which includes salary, equity for all full-time employees, and an annual performance bonus.
