About the Role

iCapital is looking to hire a Software Integration Engineer - Associate to join the Annuities Platform Team. This role develops, tests and supports well-defined integration solutions that connect client and product systems. The work spans application, API, and database layers and follows established engineering, quality and integration standards. This role will provide exposure to ownership of development, testing, deployment support and troubleshooting over time.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain integrations of moderate complexity independently using C#, .NET, REST APIs, XML, JSON, Entity Framework, LINQ and SQL.
  • Clarify integration requirements, API contracts, data mappings, validations and expected system behavior by taking an active part in story grooming and technical discussions.
  • Develop, consume, and validate REST APIs, applying knowledge of HTTP methods, request and response structures, status codes, authentication concepts, headers and error handling.
  • Use Postman to test different payloads, analyze API responses and troubleshoot integration failures.
  • Work with XML and JSON data structures, mappings, transformations and validation, and troubleshoot malformed or unexpected data.
  • Apply Entity Framework and LINQ for application data access, querying and manipulation
  • Use SQL to investigate data-related issues, validate integration results, troubleshoot application behavior and support development and testing activities.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues and resolve defects across development, QA, UAT and production support scenarios within established team processes. Analyze application logs, API requests and responses, XML and JSON payloads, database records, configuration and error messages.
  • Manage source control in Git, including branching, committing, pulling, merging, resolving basic conflicts and following established source-control practices.
  • Use Azure DevOps for CI/CD activities, builds, deployments, work tracking and troubleshooting basic pipeline or deployment issues.
  • Understand and make basic React frontend changes when integration functionality requires matching UI updates.
  • Manage assigned Jira tickets and follow issues through development, testing and deployment.
  • Take part in peer code reviews, applying coding, security, maintainability and integration best practices.
  • Build knowledge of core product and integration workflows and the business domain.
  • Support critical production issues, deployments and business-critical activities during occasional weekends or off-hours, as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of software development or integration engineering experience, preferably involving API-based and enterprise application integrations
  • Strong working knowledge of C#, .NET, object-oriented programming and common design principles
  • Hands-on experience developing and consuming REST APIs, with an understanding of API error handling, logging, validation, authentication, configuration management and reusable integration practices
  • Strong working knowledge of XML and JSON, including parsing, validation, data mapping and troubleshooting payload-related issues
  • Good working knowledge of SQL, including joins, filtering, data validation and troubleshooting application or integration-related data issues
  • Experience using Postman for API testing, request configuration, payload validation, authentication and response analysis
  • Solid understanding of Git, including branching, commits, pull requests, merging and resolving basic merge conflicts
  • Agile and Scrum processes, sprint planning, story grooming and iterative software delivery
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and able to trace failures across systems rather than focusing only on individual application components. This includes troubleshooting across the API, application code, XML and JSON payload, database, configuration and deployment layers
  • Able to work with the Product, QA, DevOps, Integration and Support Teams to investigate and resolve end-to-end integration issues
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends or off-hours on rotation, as required.
  • Hands-on experience with Entity Framework and LINQ for retrieving and manipulating application data is nice to have.
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, including repositories, build and release pipelines, work items and basic CI/CD concepts is nice to have.
  • Familiarity with React and modern web application concepts, and able to understand or support integration-related frontend changes is nice to have,
  • Experience using Visual Studio and standard debugging, logging and error-analysis techniques is nice to have.
  • Able to write clean, maintainable, testable code and create appropriate unit tests using frameworks such as NUnit or xUnit is nice to have
  • Working knowledge of Jira or similar ticketing systems is nice to have
  • Familiar with Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools for development, troubleshooting and productivity is nice to have
