Role Description
As a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping the aerodynamic performance of our stratospheric drones. You will lead the design, analysis, and optimization of aerodynamic systems to achieve efficient and reliable high-altitude operations. This position requires deep technical expertise, creativity, and collaboration to develop innovative solutions for unique aerodynamic challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and optimization of aerodynamic shapes, airfoils, and control surfaces to maximize performance, stability, and energy efficiency in stratospheric conditions.
- Conduct computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to evaluate aerodynamic performance, identify improvement opportunities, and validate design decisions.
- Develop and execute wind tunnel testing campaigns to validate aerodynamic models and optimize designs.
- Analyze and enhance the flight dynamics and stability of drones, ensuring robust performance under variable environmental conditions.
- Work closely with teams in structures, propulsion, thermal systems, and controls to ensure seamless integration of aerodynamic designs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of aerodynamic analysis
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Siemens STAR-CCM+ or other CFD tools
- Experience with UAVs or high-altitude systems.
- Experience with wind tunnel testing and data analysis.
- Experience with aircraft tools such as OpenVSP and FUN3D.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $120,000 to $160,000 salary
