Electro-Mechanical Technician III

Austin, Texas, United States

ICON is looking to add a Manufacturing Electro-Mechanical Technician III to our Printer Assembly team. The ideal candidate will need to be able to work in a team environment on the production floor in the areas of assembly, fabrication, paint, and other production areas. The ideal candidate should always ensure safety, quality, and standard work protocol are followed while using tools to accurately assemble both purchased and manufactured parts into finished products.

This role will report to our Manager, Manufacturing Production and will be based at our Austin, TX campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support work area safety, cleanliness, material usage, and shop organization, exercising judgment to identify and escalate non-obvious safety or quality risks on new or unfamiliar assignments.
  • Perform production assembly, rework, troubleshooting, and in-process repair, determining methods and procedures for new or non-standard builds where work instructions don’t fully cover the situation; document assembly improvements and may serve as an informal lead for less experienced technicians on the floor.
  • Perform equipment setup, operation, adjustments, and minor preventative maintenance tasks to meet safety, quality, and efficiency standards of equipment.
  • Conduct analytical tests, measure, and record data using established and new test methods and software; inspect and test finished products during and after engineering builds, exercising considerable judgment on new or non-standard test setups.
  • Independently coordinate with engineering on complex build and test issues — constructively challenging approaches that aren’t fully thought through and recommending improved manufacturing and test methods, including applying structured problem-solving (e.g., 5 Whys, PDCA) and root cause analysis to recurring failures.
  • Independently document complex or non-standard build and test events clearly enough for someone who wasn’t present to act on.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of hands-on electrical and mechanical experience.
  • Assembly and testing of manufactured goods experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency with internal software applications, CAD/drawing viewers, and document-control (PDM) systems to support production work.
  • Ability to work in a factory setting.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Work on platforms above 10ft.
  • Ability to independently interpret complex, multi-discipline drawings, models, schematics, and work instructions, and to draft or redline documentation as needed.
  • Proficiency with power tools and good motor skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, good organization, and analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a cross-functional team environment, exercising judgment on new or unfamiliar assignments while following established work instructions.
  • Comfortable with frequent changes of direction, dynamic work environment, and passion to perform time-sensitive analysis under pressure.
  • Electrical wiring installation skills and experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with operating and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
