Overview

IDB Bank is seeking for a Junior SQL Server database engineer to support commercial bank application databases and perform production database administration. Candidate with 0 to 1 year of experience. This position is responsible to work closely with both onshore and offshore cross-functional team members. This is a fast-paced environment and forward-thinking skills are essential. Good team player skills, production support 24/7, Hygiene maintenance, Performance tuning and possible cloud exposure are essential to perform the job function.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as Onshore DBA for bank data infrastructure, and data architecture to assist mission critical 24X7 production databases with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Partnership effectively with application development, production application support teams to optimize the performance of the various application’s databases. Advocate database objects design such as Partition tables, Triggers, Index analysis, Stored Procedures, Views turning, User defined functions, and various data types.
  • Implement and support High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA-DR) automated solutions such as SQL Server – Always on Availability Groups to sync Production and disaster recovery environments
  • Participate annual disaster recovery test planning and execute to achieve successful result to have bank on-premise data infrastructure robust and resilient
  • Partnership with Cybersecurity and Infrastructure team members to implement monthly critical patching, Upgrade, Cloning, building best practices documentation and Database Migrations. Implement CIS security standards to hardening the data infrastructure
  • Weekly basis time sheet submission and providing status report for various projects are key to perform the job function. Candidate will follow SDLC standards, change control best practices, assist internal and external audits.
  • Candidate should have previous experience or adopt to fast-paced environment (High volume of work, Rapid changes, tight deadlines, urgency and multitasking)
  • Implement SQL Server - SSIS, SSAS and SSRS product features. Should have strong ETL, ELT experience to optimize the data warehouse batch jobs to narrow the execution of the data load 
  • Implement Backup encryption, TLS certificates to encrypt the communication in the data infrastructure and Hygiene best practice implementation to secure the daily, weekly and monthly backups in AWS-S3 storage
  • Collaborate with third party fintech vendors to modernize, portfolio optimization and rationalization of the database estate
  • Candidate will implement dynamic data masking through tools such as Delphix to virtualize the database environment with masked data in non-production environment to secure bank data infrastructure
  • Candidate should have hands on experience with PowerShell, Shell scripts, Python, TSQL, PL/SQL programming to review the code and optimize as necessary. Advocate cross functional team
  • Experience with Cybersecurity tools such as CyberArk, Crowd Strike, Qualys scan and Firewall - tufin implementation are mandatory

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Large scale database integration experience in an Agile model
  • Self-motivated when it comes to multitasking and development planning
  • Great communication skills and confidence to manage up
  • RDBMS: SQL Server 2022, and 2019 RDBMS versions
  • Operating System: Windows 2019, 2022, RHEL 8.x, 9.x

 

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure with F5 Load balancer implementation to route the sessions in HA-DR environment and advance database features such as Transparent data encryption (TDE), Policy management, Resource Governor, and Extended events
  • Exposure with data center migration from on-premise to cloud is a plus
  • Exposure with NoSQL products: Apache Ignite, SQL Lite, MongoDB, and Cassandra, Couchbase
  • AWS or Azure cloud certification and previous implementation in AWS – Databricks, Data Warehouse, Data Lakehouse or Snowflake in public cloud
  • Implement database monitoring using tools such as System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Nice Management Pack configuration for Oracle DB instance and SolarWinds monitoring and alerts to create auto tickets in ServiceNow
  • Exposure with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning experience in data engineering is a plus

 

 

Compensation

The expected annual salary for this position is between $70,000 and $80,000 at the start of employment. A salary offer is determined on an individualized basis, taking into consideration factors such as an individual’s skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards package also includes eligibility for an annual bonus, medical, pharmacy, dental, and vision plans, life and disability insurance, employee wellness program, retirement and savings plans with employer contributions, generous holiday and paid time off schedules, parental leave, and tuition reimbursement.
