About the role

The Senior Behavioral Designer, Global Health will play an active role on multiple projects within the Global Health domain. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in applied behavioral science, SBC, and/or human-centered design and demonstrated abilities in complex project and partner management.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate project execution in coordination with project teams across all stages and aspects of ideas42’s applied behavioral design methodology which includes qualitative research, intervention design, implementation, monitoring, and impact evaluations;
  • Contribute to behavioral science and design capacity building, communities of practice, knowledge management, and dissemination internally with partners as well as with external stakeholders
  • Develop project plans, structure, and timelines and proactively manage these plans to ensure timely execution of high-quality deliverables;
  • Lead project scoping conversations to determine contributions ideas42 can make to different activities on existing or prospective projects and negotiate budgets
  • Contributing to grant proposals, policy papers, and other external communications
  • Supervising and mentoring more junior staff
  • Participating in internal strategic projects, including various aspects of organizational improvement 

Minimum qualifications: 

  • Master’s or equivalent plus 3 years OR Bachelor’s with 5 or more years of relevant work experience
  • Professional proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in French and English
  • Willingness to travel on a flexible schedule as needed (up to 50%)
  • Experience working remotely in a globally distributed team
  • Experience working in public health, including experience providing technical guidance to large and complex activities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with behavioral science, SBC, innovation, or human-centered design
  • Qualitative research skills, including conducting user interviews
  • Experience engaging with government and/or NGO partners in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to high-quality output
  • Strong project management skills and highly organized, with the ability to efficiently and effectively coordinate roles, responsibilities, and inputs from different team members and liaise with stakeholders outside the project team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Box, Zoom, and ability to self-teach other platforms

Application Process Overview

The ideas42 application process has four stages:
  • Application: Submit your application and resume
  • Case Study: Selected candidates will receive a short assignment, to be completed over approx. 1 week
  • First Round Interview: Selected candidates will be invited to interview with an ideas42 program team member
  • Final Round Interview: Selected candidates will be invited to interview with an ideas42 senior team member. References will also be requested and contacted during this time.
