We are in search of a Senior Visual Communication Designer who will join their fellow Global Brand & Marketing team members to help support IDEO’s consulting workforce of designers, futurists and dreamers. We are seeking an individual to support the team at 40 hours weekly. This is a contract-to-hire position with the potential for full-time employment based on performance and business needs.

In a Nutshell:

The Senior Visual Communication Designer is directly responsible for the development & execution of our Global Brand & Marketing team’s visual communications strategy.

Once here you will:

  • Develop and maintain brand identity systems and design guidelines.
  • Create compelling visual content for various platforms, including print, digital, and environmental mediums.
  • Lead and manage visual communication and social media marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to guide project objectives and ensure alignment with team goals.
  • Utilize advanced graphic design skills to create logos, icons, symbols, and UI/visual design systems.
  • Drive advertising and marketing campaigns, focusing on brand storytelling and strategic possibilities.
  • Art direct photo, video, and layout projects, ensuring high-quality visual storytelling.
  • Design marketing collateral, including brochures, digital and social ads.
  • Assist our business development teams with storytelling materials; decks, event materials, landing page design, email newsletters, etc.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • 5-7 years minimum of professional experience in brand communications and visual design related to marketing.
  • 1-2 years of project management experience with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with digital design tools including Figma, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experience in digital user experience design; lightweight front-end website design, email newsletter layouts, etc.
  • Excellent storytelling and engagement knowledge, with expertise in LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Advanced graphic design and branding experience, with a strong sense of layout, color, and typography.
  • Proven ability in creating brand identity systems, designing logos, publication design, and art direction.
  • Strong self-starter who can initiate and manage projects autonomously.

Diverse Experience:

  • Experience establishing and expressing brand identity, from understanding strategy through creative interpretation and execution, including: visual identities, brand systems, and guidelines for implementation
  • Experience in concept ideation, design research, and prototyping, with a curiosity for learning and experimenting across visual, digital, and experiential mediums
  • Ability to work across a wide range of design challenges, recognizing patterns, and translating insights into thoughtful visual solutions
  • Comfort moving between exploratory and polished work, helping teams bring ideas to life through strong craft and storytelling

In-Person Office Expectations + Working Hours:

  • As part of the Brand & Marketing team, you will be expected to work from the San Francisco Lion Building studio on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week. You will also be expected to be in-person on occasion for various events, activities, workshops, etc.
  • The studio is open Monday - Friday and you are more than welcome to be in person at any time.
  • As part of a Global team, you may occasionally be expected to join early meetings (with Europe) or later evening sessions (with Asia).

Payscale & Benefits

IDEO is committed to paying its employees, contractors & vendors equitably, regardless of gender identity or race/ethnicity/cultural identity. 

The salary range for this role is $80,000–$110,000 USD. Final offers may vary based on candidate experience, location, and other factors. 

We are seeking an individual to support the team at 40 hours weekly. This is a contract-to-hire position with the potential for full-time employment based on performance and business needs. As a full-time temporary position, this role is eligible for employee benefits.
