Principal Product Manager – Devices and Networks

Location: Mountain View, California or McLean, Virginia
Team: Platform – Devices
Reports to: VP of Product, Platform

About the Role

ID.me is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead the strategy and execution for Devices — the platform resource that anchors identity to the hardware and communications channels our 150M+ members use every day. The Devices team owns device fingerprints, cookies, IP and network signals, and critically, phone numbers, which are tightly tied to device possession and play a central role in authentication, account recovery, and fraud detection.

As a Principal PM, you’ll set the vision for how devices and phone numbers are modeled, validated, and leveraged across Wallet, SuperApp, and partner integrations. You’ll define how device signals flow into authentication, account recovery, identity verification, and attribute validation, ensuring that ID.me’s platform can reliably answer the question: “Is this the same person, using the same device, still in control of their phone number?” You’ll partner with Graph PMs, Data Science PMs, Credentials PMs, and Apps teams to deliver seamless member experiences and with Risk/Fraud and Security to minimize attack vectors like SIM swaps, number recycling, and device spoofing.

Responsibilities

  • Product Leadership: Define and own the vision and roadmap for Devices and Networks, including phone numbers, as first-class Platform resources.

  • Device & Phone Lifecycle: Establish standards for device recognition, possession checks, phone number portability/recycling, SIM swap detection, and validation freshness.

  • Authentication & Recovery: Ensure Devices integrate seamlessly into login, MFA, account recovery, and re-verification flows.

  • Identity Verification: Partner with Verification/Validation services (e.g., aggregators like Prove and Twilio, telecom APIs, device intelligence providers) to validate phone numbers and detect high-risk device events.

  • Trust Chain Integration: Ensure device and phone identifiers link into ID.me’s trust graph with provenance, possession, validation, and lifecycle metadata.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with Graph and Credential PMs to integrate devices into member profiles; partner with Apps teams (Healthcare, Finance, Travel, Shopping) to optimize domain-specific experiences.

  • Risk & Fraud Defense: Define product strategies for detecting SIM swaps, recycled numbers, device spoofing, and velocity anomalies; partner with Risk and Fraud teams to mitigate attacks.

  • Analytics & Feedback: Define KPIs for device recognition accuracy, possession freshness, and fraud prevention impact; build dashboards and feedback loops.

  • Evangelism: Represent ID.me’s device, network, and phone number strategy with partners, telecom providers, and the internal product/engineering community.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of product management experience, with significant depth in identity, authentication, fraud/risk, or telecom/device intelligence.

  • Proven success owning device, network, or phone-related identity products (device fingerprinting, SIM swap detection, phone-based MFA).

  • Strong technical background in APIs, SDKs, and device/telecom integrations.

  • Deep understanding of risks like SIM swaps, number recycling, and device spoofing, and of telecom validation methods.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; experience working across multiple platform and application teams.

  • Ability to influence standards and integrations with telecom carriers, device intelligence providers, and validation partners.

Key Success Metrics

  • Device Recognition Accuracy: % of logins correctly classified as known/unknown device.

  • Phone Number Freshness: % of phone identifiers with up-to-date possession/validation checks.

  • Fraud Mitigation: Reduction in successful SIM swap, recycled number, and device spoofing attacks.

  • Authentication Success Rate: % of login/recovery events completed successfully with device/phone identifiers.

  • Adoption: Use of device/phone identifiers across Wallet, SuperApp, and partner applications.

Why Join ID.me?

This is a high-visibility principal PM role at the core of ID.me’s identity strategy. You’ll define how devices and phone numbers — the most ubiquitous and risk-sensitive identifiers — are modeled, validated, and consumed at internet scale. You’ll shape how authentication, recovery, verification, and validation flows work across Wallet, SuperApp, and partner ecosystems, while raising the bar on fraud defense and member trust. Help us build the identity layer of the internet.

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
