ID.me is a full-time, in-office culture. Unless a specific job description explicitly states otherwise, all roles are on-site five days per week at one of our offices in McLean, VA; Mountain View, CA; New York City, NY; or Tampa, FL. Overview
Join ID.me as a Data Scientist and put your analytical skills to work protecting millions of people from online fraud. In this role, you’ll partner with our Fraud Analytics, Investigations, Product, and Engineering teams to uncover fraud patterns, design machine learning solutions, and develop strategies that safeguard digital identities across our network. This is an opportunity for graduate level students (MS) specializing in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields who are eager to apply their skills in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
This role is based out of our Mountain View, CA office and requires full-time in-office attendance.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with leadership and investigators to shape fraud prevention strategies.
- Design experiments, test hypotheses, and analyze fraud patterns to improve detection accuracy.
- Build models, rules, and dashboards to detect fraud with minimal false positives.
- Respond to fraud attacks by rapidly developing monitoring tools and scalable solutions.
- Leverage member interaction data to identify signs of stolen PII, account takeover, and social engineering attempts.
- Establish monitoring frameworks to track and improve fraud detection processes.
- Partner across teams to ensure insights drive both immediate fraud response and long-term prevention.
What We’re Looking For
- Graduating in May/ June 2027 pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related quantitative field.
- Strong technical skills in Python, SQL, and data analysis libraries (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn).
- Familiarity with machine learning methods such as decision trees, ensemble models, and deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras).
- Experience working with large datasets through coursework, research projects, or internships.
- Data-driven thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate insights clearly.
- Excited to apply advanced analytics to real-world challenges in fraud prevention and digital security.
