About the Role:

IEX is looking for a curious, analytical intern to support our Options Business Team’s product strategy efforts. This role spans the commercial, technical, and operational work required to design, prioritize, and launch products used by IEX’s clients to trade US Options. The ideal candidate is excited by technology and financial markets, enjoys getting into the details, can pitch effectively / explain problems clearly, and is eager to learn how products go from ideas to revenue sources in a complex, high-performance environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support the Options Business Team with research, analysis, and documentation for product initiatives and commercial decisions
  • Help gather and organize requirements from internal stakeholders and external conversations with industry participants
  • Analyze product performance and market opportunities to develop theses on where the business goes next
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings with Core Development, QA, Product Management, and Project Management
  • Help prepare materials including product proposals, pricing changes, board materials, and external presentations

Your Background:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field (technical background preferred)
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in technology, electronic trading, market structure, or financial products
  • Comfortable learning new concepts quickly and working through detailed, sometimes ambiguous problems
  • Curious about the “why” behind user needs, product decisions, and technical design
  • Intellectually curious and detail-oriented - a natural generalist who willing to go deep when it’s required

Nice to Haves:

  • Coursework, projects, or personal interest in product management, financial markets, or trading systems
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, or Tableau
  • Exposure to Agile development, software development lifecycles, and technical documentation
  • Experienced and comfortable presenting ideas to large groups with varying levels of technical expertise / familiarity in the subject material

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting annual base pay is $45.00 / hour for this NY-based position. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The annual base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for bonus and equity.
