About the Role:

IEX is looking for a driven, curious intern to join our Market Operations team. This role offers hands-on exposure to the technology, data, and trading systems that support a modern U.S. equities exchange. The ideal candidate is excited by financial markets and technology, brings strong attention to detail, and is eager to build practical skills in data analysis and automation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support the team in executing and documenting daily operational procedures
  • Learn IEX systems, market functionality, order types, and trading workflows
  • Analyze data to support troubleshooting, operational efficiency, and risk management
  • Help identify and improve manual processes through scripting and automation
  • Build and maintain simple tools with guidance from the Market Operations team
  • Participate in industry testing, product initiatives, and cross-functional projects

Your Background:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, finance, economics, mathematics, data analytics, or a related field
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and an ability to work thoughtfully in a fast-paced environment
  • Curious about technology, electronic trading, and how complex systems operate
  • Collaborative and dependable, with the ability to work effectively across teams

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with—or interest in—Python, SQL, Excel, Pandas, Jupyter notebooks, or similar analytical tools
  • Familiarity with Git or other version-control systems
  • Coursework, projects, or personal interest in electronic trading, market structure, order types, or order book behavior

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting annual base pay is $35.00 / hour for this NY-based position. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The annual base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for bonus and equity.
