Network & Data Center Engineer Co-op – Spring 2027

About the Role:
As a Network and Data Center Engineer Co-op, you’ll work alongside our Infrastructure team to help support the networking and data center environment behind IEX’s production trading systems, which process billions of messages each day.
This is a hands-on opportunity to learn how high-performance infrastructure is built, maintained, and monitored. No prior finance experience is necessary—just an interest in technology, a willingness to dive into the details, and curiosity to learn as you go. This role includes travel to our data center in Secaucus, NJ, as needed.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with installing, racking, cabling, labeling, and documenting servers, switches, routers, and other networking equipment
- Help troubleshoot hardware, connectivity, and cabling issues alongside senior engineers
- Support routine maintenance, infrastructure deployments, and equipment upgrades
- Maintain accurate asset inventory, network documentation, and data center records
- Help monitor the health and availability of our network and infrastructure environment
- Contribute to tooling, dashboards, and automation that support our production systems
- Work closely with engineers across Infrastructure and Technology on cross-functional projects
- Participate in the engineering process as we design, build, and improve the resiliency of our infrastructure platform
Your Background:
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Ability to commit to a 40-hour work week (starting January 2027 to June 2027)
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Familiarity with basic networking concepts such as TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and switching
- Some experience with Linux, Python, or another scripting/programming language is a plus
- Interest in networking hardware and infrastructure; familiarity with Cisco, Fortinet, or Arista is helpful
- Familiarity with networking technologies such as BGP, IGMP, or PIM
- Able to travel to our data center in Secaucus, NJ, as needed
- Comfortable working in a hands-on data center environment, including lifting and moving equipment up to 50 lbs.
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting annual base pay is $35.00 hour for this NY-based position. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The annual base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for bonus and equity.
