Manufacturing Shift Lead

About the Role:   

The Manufacturing Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing operations during a specific shift in a manufacturing facility. Their primary goal is to ensure that production runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently while meeting quality and productivity targets.  In addition, the Lead will work as a Fabricator and will read and interpret work orders and blueprints to complete fabrication projects in a safe, quality and efficient manner. This position requires someone that is detail oriented with strong fabrication skills and the ability to complete routine to intricate projects.

In this role, you will:   

Lead Expectations

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of production workers during the shift.
  • Assign tasks and monitor performance of team members.
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to team members.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for workers on the shift.
  • Monitor and optimize workflow to maintain high productivity and efficiency.
  • Communicate with other shifts and departments to ensure smooth transitions and operations.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures on the production floor.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and report incidents or hazards.
  • Ensure all employees use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Complete and submit shift reports to management.

Fabricator Expectations

  • Read and interpret work orders and blueprints to determine work requirements.
  • Complete fabrication work by utilizing hand and power tools, saws, cutting machines, rolls or press brakes in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with IMI standards.
  • Prepare and set up equipment and supplies required to perform work assignments.
  • Self-inspect quality of work product to ensure it meets IMI and customer expectations.
  • Attend company training programs and follow procedures as outlined in training.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees and department managers.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2-4 years of fabrication experience required.
  • Leadership or management experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret fabrication drawings.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement.
  • Ability to complete work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
