Antenna Engineer Intern (Undergrad)

Team Overview: 

As an intern on the Antenna Engineering Team, you’ll work alongside experienced RF engineers and technologists on cutting-edge RAIN RFID antenna systems. This is a hands-on opportunity to apply your academic knowledge, grow your technical skills, and contribute to real-world innovation in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

What You Will Do:

  • Use simulation tools like Dassault Simulia CST and AutoCAD for antenna modeling and layout. 
  • Assist in the design, setup, and operation of anechoic chambers for antenna measurement. 
  • Participate in antenna prototyping and fabrication, from PCB-level designs to 3D printed components. 
  • Conduct RF measurements and performance evaluation of RAIN RFID tags and readers. 
  • Develop and implement task automation scripts using Python or VBA to streamline engineering workflows. 
  • Help prepare technical documentation, test plans, and reports. 
  • Support experimental setups and lab maintenance for ongoing projects. 
  • Contribute data analysis and visualization to extract performance insights from measurements. 
  • Learn and apply concepts of electromagnetic theory, impedance matching, and radiation patterns. 

What You Will Bring:

  • Basic understanding of antennas or electromagnetic theory (desirable). 
  • Some experience with Python programming (required); VBA is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with RF simulation tools (e.g., CST, HFSS) is a strong plus. 
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and documentation tools. 
  • Comfortable working in lab environments and with measurement equipment. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Portuguese and English.
  • To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, Control and Automation, or a related field and the internship must satisfy your academic program’s formal internship requirements.
  • This is an in-office position based at Impinj Brazilian Development Center, Tecnopuc, Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil
