Senior DevOps Engineer- Part Time

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team in Cairo. As an engineer at Implicit, you will work closely with our data science and product teams to build the next-generation AI summarization platforms.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will: 

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS
• Partner with product and sales teams to define and implement SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs
• Identify and lead initiatives that drive significant cost savings or revenue impact
• Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code using Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform
• Own and maintain data stores, including capacity planning, monitoring, scaling, clustering, and backup/restore strategies
• Continuously improve monitoring and alerting systems to proactively prevent incidents
• Lead incident response efforts and conduct blameless postmortems to drive continuous improvement
• Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and frequent deployments
• Improve system reliability, performance, and cost efficiency through automation and observability
• Develop and maintain infrastructure automation tooling using modern scripting and programming practices
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to improve system design, deployment processes, and operational excellence
• Implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure and services
• Support compliance initiatives, including SOC 2 Type II readiness and audit processes

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of hands-on industry experience in SRE, DevOps, or related roles
• Strong experience with AWS services, including:
  EKS, RDS Aurora, ECR, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, Route 53, Certificate Manager, Secrets Manager, and CloudTrail
• Solid experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes)
• Proficiency in Linux and shell scripting for automation
• Strong programming/scripting skills in Python and Bash
• Experience with CI/CD systems (Git-based workflows, CircleCI or similar tools)
• Hands-on experience with Helm charts, including templating and multi-environment deployments
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (HTTP, DNS, TLS/SSL) and troubleshooting
• Experience with AWS security best practices (IAM policy design, encryption, VPC isolation, auditing)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Preferred qualifications, you have experience in:

• Experience with Karpenter for just-in-time provisioning and cost optimization
• Familiarity with SOC 2 Type II compliance frameworks and audit processes
• Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio (traffic management, mTLS)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform

Our interview process is as follows: 

1. A screening call (30 mins).
2. 1-2 technical interviews with a member of the Reliability Engineering team (60 mins).
3. Culture interview (60 mins).
4. 3 reference calls. 
5. Final meeting with our VP of Engineering or CTO (60 mins).
