Senior Accountant
The Opportunity
InCharge Energy is seeking a Senior Accountant to play a pivotal role within our Accounting team, supporting the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial records. This role owns a broad range of accounting functions across month-end close, taxes, payroll, fixed assets, leases, and general ledger activity, while also serving as a mentor and backup leader within the team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant who can hit the ground running, work autonomously, and contribute meaningfully within a fast-growing, entrepreneurial organization.
What You’ll Do
- Own and support the monthly close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
- Review and maintain fixed assets, ensuring accurate depreciation and amortization
- Review and account for leases in accordance with ASC 842, including pre-execution review
- Perform hands-on accounting operations across core functions
- Serve as a backup and supervisory resource for Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Expense Reports, and Purchasing Card administration
- Review general ledger transactions and account detail to ensure accurate financial statement presentation
- Manage and oversee tax compliance, including corporate, sales & use, and employer-related taxes
- Coordinate and support year-end audit and tax return preparation
- Process bi-weekly payroll through a third-party provider
- Mentor and support the Junior Staff Accountant
- Analyze issues, identify trends, and escalate findings or recommendations to management
- Support the Controller with ad hoc projects and process improvements
Your Experience and Capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
- 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close ownership
- CPA a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central is a plus
- Experience with tax filings and payroll strongly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas (XLOOKUP, etc.) and Pivot Tables; Power BI experience a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills with an interest in leveraging technology to automate and improve processes
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Comfortable working autonomously while knowing when to ask questions or raise risks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
- Proven ability to drive issues through to resolution
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information
