Product Owner, Manager Overview:
The Product Owner Manager owns the product side of delivery execution across multiple teams, ensuring predictable, on-time releases and high-quality outcomes. This role leads and develops a team of Product Owners, drives consistency in agile execution, and ensures strong backlog discipline, feature lifecycle management, capacity planning, and product usage analysis. Serving as a key connector between Product Strategy, Engineering, Design, Customer Success, and executive leadership, the Product Owner Manager provides clear visibility into delivery health, risks, capacity, and key product metrics, while acting as the primary escalation point for product delivery and support-related issues.
Product Owner, Manager Responsibilities:
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of Product Owners to ensure high-quality product execution and professional growth.
- Drive consistent execution of quarterly and 3-month product roadmaps across multiple scrum teams.
- Own the product side of delivery, ensuring all product releases are planned, coordinated, and delivered on time.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Customer Success escalations related to product delivery, and defects.
- Own the product side of support bug intake, prioritization, tracking, and resolution, ensuring timely communication and alignment with Engineering and Customer Success.
- Ensure Product Owners create clear, well-defined user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Establish and maintain best practices for backlog management, sprint execution, and agile ceremonies.
- Oversee feature tracking and lifecycle management from concept through release, adoption, and optimization.
- Ensure product usage tracking, dashboards, and analytics are defined, implemented, and actively used to inform decisions.
- Partner closely with Product Managers to translate product strategy into executable plans.
- Serve as an escalation point for delivery risks, dependencies, and prioritization challenges.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Design, and QA leadership to ensure alignment and delivery quality.
- Support go-to-market initiatives, including product launches and cross-functional readiness.
- Continuously improve product delivery processes, tools, and workflows.
- Track capacity across multiple teams and proactively identify and adjust for constraints, risks, and shifting priorities to maintain delivery commitments.
- Provide executive-level visibility into product delivery health, release readiness, capacity, risks, and key product metrics through clear reporting and communication.
- Act as a product ambassador internally and externally when needed.
Product Owner, Manager Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in product management or product ownership for SaaS, B2B software.
- 2+ years of people management experience, including coaching and performance development.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and/or SAFe methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead multiple teams and manage competing priorities.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience using data to inform decisions.
- Proficiency with product and project management tools (Azure DevOps, Confluence, Asana, Miro).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with workflow management platforms or the K-12 market is a plus.
