Job Description   

  • Job Title: Medical Assistant (MA)
  • Base Salary: $26-34/hour
  • Location: Bishop, CA 
  • Work model: On-site, Full-time 
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel required.  
  • Reports to: Clinical Services Manager  

Job Summary:  

Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, the Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for assisting in the provision of care to both in-person and virtual patients in support of the Medical Staff. Duties include recording and updating patient medical history/contact information in patient files, scheduling appointments, and performing standard care procedures. This role is part of the Clinical Care Team that engages with patients to develop lifelong well-being and health and as such, has a key role in making a difference in the patient care we offer. The MA assists physicians and other clinicians by providing a unique blend of skills and knowledge to carry out prescribed medical treatment.   

As a multiskilled health professional, you are part of a team that is responsible for performing administrative and clinical tasks in Guardiant Health Medical’s primary care locations while delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining positive patient engagement. You will also participate in the delivery of excellent medical services in a patient centered medical home environment by providing support to both back and front office staff. You will actively participate in and support quality improvement activities and the clinical practice team efforts with an emphasis on the importance of the individual patient and putting the patient's needs first.  

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Accurately document patient medical history, visit reasons, diagnostic results, and treatment plans in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) 
  • Perform patient intake assessment, including reviewing prior records and managing forms 
  • Coordinate referrals, authorizations, diagnostic testing, equipment, prescription refills and patient payments 
  • Provide direct patient care, education and support under provider direction, ensuring clarity and compassion in all interactions 
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff while maintaining confidentiality  
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, technical, and analytical skills to manage workflows in a fast-paced medical setting 
  • Maintain compliance with safety protocols, legal regulations and office standards 
  • Participate in staff meetings, relay patient messages, and support overall office operations as needed 
  • Perform all other duties assigned  

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to exceptional customer service across diverse populations  
  • Professional, adaptable and able to meet performance goals in high-demand environments 
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities 
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure 

Education and Experience:  

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of a Medical Assistant Certification Program from an accredited program/school or other recognized institution 
  • Associate degree in the medical field is highly preferred 
  • 3+ years of working in the healthcare field in a fast-paced medical practice 

Physical and sensory demands:  

  • Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records (EMR) applications 
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending and reaching during patient care and office tasks 

Working environment:  

  • Primarily an in-person role with optional telecommute flexibility as the schedule and business needs permit 
  • Must be available for an 8-hour shift, with occasional weekends, is required
