Position Summary
The Engineering Assistant bridges engineering and production by providing CAD support, maintaining documentation accuracy, and facilitating process consistency. The role is ideal for a technically inclined individual who enjoys variety, organization, and contributing to team efficiency in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide CAD drafting support for the engineering team using AutoCAD
- Generate and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) within IEM’s internal systems
- Act as a liaison between Production and Engineering to ensure clarity and timely information exchange
- Prepare and distribute routine engineering reports on commitments, milestones, and deliverables
- Assist with onboarding new engineers by preparing resources and documentation
- Review and process Engineering Transmittals for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain and organize engineering documentation with the guidance of design engineers
- Support cross-functional communication across engineering, production, and project management teams
Qualifications
- A diploma/degree/certification in Drafting, or related field; or equivalent professional experience is preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in an engineering support, drafting, or administrative technical role
- Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD preferred), including use of tool palettes, snaps, and basic drawing setup
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams); SharePoint experience a plus
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail and document accuracy
- Demonstrated professionalism in document presentation and engineering deliverables
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional coordination
- Demonstrated task execution discipline, personal accountability, and proactive Ownership
Workplace Conditions
- Plant-based, on-site role (JAX, FRE, or VAN location)
- Works closely with engineering and production teams in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
- Physical Demands Work performed primarily in an office environment within a manufacturing facility Regular use of computer, phone, and office equipment; minimal physical exertion required
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $64,000- $84,000
