Position Summary:
The Material Coordinator is responsible for checking kanban locations and replenishing required parts and materials to each workstation on the production floor. This role ensures that all workstations are properly stocked with the necessary components to maintain continuous production flow, minimize downtime, and support on-time delivery of finished goods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled kanban checks at designated locations throughout the production floor to identify parts and materials requiring replenishment.
- Pick, transport, and deliver parts and materials from warehouse and storage areas to workstations in the correct quantities and in a timely manner.
- Monitor bin and kanban inventory levels at each workstation, triggering replenishment actions when minimum stock thresholds are reached.
- Verify part numbers, quantities, and condition of materials before delivering to workstations to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Communicate material shortages, discrepancies, or quality issues to the Value Stream Leader/Work center Lead
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts (if certified) to move materials safely and efficiently.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly labeled kanban locations and workstation staging areas.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as directed by your supervisor.
- Follow established safety guidelines and protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Competencies:
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately identify part numbers, quantities, and kanban signals to ensure correct materials reach the right workstations.
- Reliability: Dependable and self-motivated with the ability to follow established replenishment routes and schedules with minimal supervision.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with production team members, coordinators, and supervisors regarding material needs and issues.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, carrying, and transporting materials throughout the facility for extended periods.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a warehouse, material handling, or manufacturing environment preferred.

Physical Demands:
Activities: Sitting – 5% Walking/Standing – 95%
Lifting: Continuously lift up to 50 lbs.
Bending: Must be able to bend, squat, and climb.
Vision: Ability to read labels, part numbers, kanban cards, and identify small or detailed items.
Mental Demands: Read and interpret kanban cards, part numbers, and work orders; prioritize replenishment tasks to support production schedules.
Environment: Primarily shop floor and warehouse environment, which is not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibration, hazards, dust and fumes.
Salary Range: $20 - $24 CAD per hour.
