Reports To: Director of Software Development
Position Summary
We seek an experienced and motivated Scrum Master to guide and support our agile teams through all phases of product development. The Senior Scrum Master will serve as a servant leader and coach, ensuring that the team follows agile principles and delivers high-quality results efficiently. This role requires excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of Scrum and agile frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitating all Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Coaching team members in self-management and cross-functionality to build high-performing agile teams.
- Helping the team identify and remove obstacles that may impede progress.
- Working closely with the Product Owner to ensure a well-maintained and prioritized backlog.
- Supporting the Product Owner in communicating the product vision, goals, and backlog priorities to the team.
- Ensuring Scrum principles are understood and practiced across the organization.
- Monitoring team performance metrics and promote continuous improvement.
- Fostering an environment of transparency, collaboration, and accountability.
- Partnering with other Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches to promote consistent agile practices across teams.
- Protecting the team from outside interruptions and distractions.
Supervision of Personnel
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar agile delivery role within an IT or Software Development department.
- Strong knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and other agile methodologies.
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe or equivalent certification preferred.
- Strong experience working with agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps).
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proven ability to coach and mentor teams in agile practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred
- Experience in scaled agile frameworks (e.g. LeSS).
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines.
- Background in software development or product management.
- Experience working in distributed or hybrid team environments.
Location
- The position is fully remote but may require up to 10% travel to IEM facilities, supplier sites, compliance audits or conferences. This position is not open to residents of California.
