About the Role:
This isn’t your typical legal job. As Head of Legal, you’ll be more than just our top legal expert—you’ll be a trusted business partner, dealmaker, and culture carrier. You'll work directly with our leadership team and leaders at CBRE to solve hard problems, enable smart risks, and drive business outcomes.
With CBRE’s resources behind us, we have an incredible opportunity to scale—faster, smarter, and globally. You’ll be at the forefront of this, leading our legal strategy, commercial transactions, and day-to-day operations, while advising across all parts of the business.
We’re also looking for someone who embraces emerging technologies to streamline legal operations, improve efficiency, and enable our legal team to work smarter—whether that’s through automation, AI-powered tools, or other innovative solutions.
You will report to CBRE’s SVP, Deputy General Counsel and have a dotted line to Industrious’ Chief Operating Officer. This means you’ll get to run a smaller, hands-on legal team while benefiting from the resources and expertise of CBRE’s global legal apparatus (it’s the best of both worlds!).
What You’ll Do
Head (Strategy & Big-Picture Thinking)
- Be our legal strategist. Advise the leadership team on key legal, regulatory, and business risks.
- Guide major commercial transactions. Lead negotiations to ensure we make smart, high-impact deals.
- Shape our governance and compliance approach in partnership with CBRE. Keep us ahead of regulations while making sure rules never slow us down.
- Think global. Navigate legal challenges across multiple jurisdictions with a proactive, business-first mindset.
Heart (Leadership & Relationship Building)
- Be a trusted partner. Work cross-functionally with teams across the company, balancing legal risk with business momentum.
- Lead with ethics and integrity. Uphold our values, ensuring we operate with transparency and responsibility.
- Empower and develop the team. Build and lead a high-performing legal function that can scale with our company.
- Protect what matters. Ensure compliance in key areas like privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory affairs while fostering a culture of accountability.
Hands (Execution & Action-Oriented Leadership)
- Build a best-in-class legal operations function. Drive efficiency, leverage technology, and optimize processes.
- Get deals done. Structure and execute transactions that fuel our growth.
- Manage risk smartly. Identify challenges before they become problems and solve them proactively.
- Oversee corporate governance in collaboration with our CBRE colleagues. Manage external counsel and oversee compliance programs.

What You Bring
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to practice law in New York.
- 15+ years of legal experience, including in-house leadership at a high-growth or global company.
- Experience leading legal teams and working cross-functionally at the executive level.
- A global mindset—you’ve navigated complex, multi-jurisdictional legal challenges.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the US without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
Compensation: The annual base compensation range for this role is between $270,000 – $290,000. The successful candidate's actual base compensation will be based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and professional qualifications. You will also be eligible for an annual bonus and participation in our long-term incentive program.
