The role
We are looking for a Lead Full Stack Software Engineer with a solid foundational knowledge of software engineering principles and best practices, who can look outside the box and elevate the quality of software development of their team. The person stepping into this position will play a critical role in DRL’s race management and sports data systems, as well as lead the “Timing and Scoring” team.
What you’ll do
- Lead architecture design and software development of our RaceStack (collection of systems that enable us to have drone races)
- Lead the “Timing and Scoring” team of developers (team that owns the “RaceStack”)
- Support the deployment and operation of the RaceStack during our live drone races and other events as they arise - this involves travel (up to about 15%)
- Collaborate across teams and departments (and with external collaborators) to achieve the best outcomes
What you’ll bring
- You have plenty of experience in the field (typically 5+ years)
- You are a great teammate, you love working with people and are obsessed with technology
- You are fluent in JavaScripts and its’ flavors
- You know server side and client side (Node, React, etc.)
- You have experience in at least one additional top tier programming language (for example: Python, Java, C++, C#, Rust, or Go)
- Familiarity with AWS/GCP
- Experience with Docker
- You have experience working with databases (both SQL and NoSQL)
- You are familiar with modern methodologies such as Agile
- You know modern best practices such as code reviews, GIT source control with pull requests, etc)
- You can navigate a fast paced environment. We are a startup, and a unique one, things tend to happen fast and we move together quickly to accomplish our goals.
- You are comfortable with occasional required travel (approximately 15% over the course of a calendar year)
We’ll be extra pumped if you have
- Terraform
- K8s experience
- Ruby on Rails experience
Base Salary Range
$160,000 - $190,000 USD
Base pay will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, certifications, experience, market demands, and locations.
