What You Will Do In This Role

As a Senior Data Engineer on the Data Foundation team at Inflect, you report directly to the VP of Technology and you will sit on the platform's critical path, owning the ingestion → catalog → derived pipeline and the core InfraSpec datasets that power our entire marketplace. In this role, the accuracy and integrity of our entire product is directly capped by the quality of the data platform you build and maintain. Working closely with our VP of Technology in the US, a Data Foundation contractor in Poland, and cross-functional partners, you will transform raw, disparate digital infrastructure data into a resilient, high-confidence data platform. You are an architect of durable platform data systems, ensuring Inflect’s data engine—including our greenfield graph layer for RouteFinder—is as fast, reliable, and precise as the global infrastructure it maps.

You are a senior data engineering authority with a "boots on the ground" execution mindset. You don't just write SQL and Python scripts; you dive deep into data modeling, system mechanics, edge cases, and pipeline contracts. You probably recoil at the thought of just managing tickets or maintaining legacy scripts. You thrive when you’re set loose to turn complex, unstructured infrastructure data into pristine, consumable datasets that drive automated matching and confidence scoring. 

You see yourself as a high-leverage senior individual contributor and you demand relentless data accuracy, rigorous observability, and hold a hard line on keeping pipeline rework strictly under 20%. But, you enjoy working collaboratively, and you thrive when partnering across global time zones (US, Poland, LatAm, APAC). 

You absolutely hate silent failures, schema drift, fragile ETL jobs, and data slop - to the point where you obsess over pipeline observability and contract enforcement. You probably have to work hard to balance your drive for architectural perfection with the speed required in a fast-growing startup. But your strong can-do attitude, pragmatic engineering mindset, and innate commitment to high quality serve you well. \You relish the challenge of eliminating single-person dependencies, migrating legacy systems to durable greenfield architecture, and establishing the technical standards that safeguard our core data foundation.

• Modern Data Stack Mastery: Expert-level command of SQL, Postgres, Python, modern data warehousing, and deep cloud-native AWS data ecosystem tools.
• Platform Modernization: Proven capability to migrate single-owner legacy systems onto scalable, multi-tenant platform architectures - including graph database layer design.
• Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration: Strong partnership skills for collaborating with global engineering, data science/ML, and trust/analytics teams across time zones.

Day-To-Day Responsibilities

Core Platform & Pipeline Engineering:

• Pipeline Scaling: Build, optimize, and scale end-to-end ingestion → catalog → derived pipelines across all core data domains feeding InfraSpec.
• System Modernization & Graph Layer: Lead the technical migration away from legacy and single-owner scripts toward a durable platform, including architecting the greenfield graph database layer for RouteFinder.
• Inference & Workflow Support: Implement and enforce strict data contracts, consistency checks, and quality gates backing the Winston automated intake workflow.

Data Quality, Governance & Observability:

• Rework Target Enforcement: Maintain strict observability and automated testing across all data flows to systematically keep pipeline rework under our 20% target threshold.
• Data Contract Ownership: Define, enforce, and maintain data schemas and contracts across ingestion pipelines to ensure downstream reliability for confidence scoring and matching algorithms.

Cross-Functional & Global Partnership:

• Global Team Alignment: Serve as the US-based senior anchor on Data Foundation, partnering daily with team members in Poland (CET) and aligned closely with the VP of Technology.
• Cross-Domain Execution: Partner tightly with NA Data Science / ML engineers, Intelligence Engine teams (matching quality), and Trust teams (audit and analytics data) to power downstream capabilities.

Required Qualifications

• Data Engineering Experience: 10+ years of dedicated data engineering experience, with demonstrated scope as a senior individual contributor handling complex data platform architectures.
• Core Technical Stack: Advanced proficiency in SQL and Postgres, expert Python coding abilities, and deep hands-on mastery with modern data warehouse patterns (dbt or equivalent).
• Pipeline & Modeling Expertise: Extensive experience designing large-scale ELT/ETL pipelines, data contracts, schema governance, and robust data modeling paradigms.
• AWS Cloud Ecosystem: Deep practical experience leveraging AWS native services for storage, orchestration, compute, and data processing.
• Location & Alignment: US-based full-time employee, working US business hours with fluid written and verbal English communication across a global team.

Bonus Qualifications

• Graph Database Architecture: Hands-on experience with graph databases (e.g., Neo4j, AWS Neptune), ideally applied to network topology, geospatial routing, or graph-based search models (specifically applicable to RouteFinder).
• Streaming Infrastructure: Experience implementing real-time or event-driven ingestion architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, etc.).
• Data Quality Frameworks: Direct experience setting up enterprise data observability or data-quality frameworks (Great Expectations, Monte Carlo, Soda, etc.).
• ML & Domain Synergy: Experience building feature pipelines for ML matching models, alongside familiarity with telecommunications, datacenter, or digital infrastructure domain data.
