SY26-27 Middle School Math Teacher (5th–8th)

WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a member of our Middle School Academy, staff have the opportunity to shape students during one of the most pivotal stages of their academic and personal development, building the skills, confidence, and critical thinking they need to thrive in high school and beyond. With two teachers in every classroom, staff collaborates closely across content areas to ensure every scholar receives rigorous instruction, individualized support, and the meaningful relationships they need to grow as learners and leaders. As a Middle School Math Teacher, you will work with students through:

Instructional Delivery & Student Support

• Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned mathematics instruction that develops conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and strong problem-solving skills across grade-level content.
• Teach with clarity through explicit modeling, guided practice, mathematical discourse, and strategic checks for understanding that surface misconceptions and drive precise reteach.
• Design daily whole-group, small-group, and intervention cycles aligned to formative and summative data, accelerating student growth in reasoning, accuracy, and application of mathematical concepts.

Data-Informed Planning & Instructional Responsiveness

• Use student work, assessments, and progress monitoring tools to identify skill gaps, regroup students, and adjust instruction weekly and when necessary, daily.
• Plan with intention by anticipating common misconceptions, aligning tasks to the objective, and ensuring students engage in meaningful practice.

Collaboration & Co-Teaching Model

• Partner with grade-level teams, interventionists, and special education staff to ensure students receive coherent, aligned literacy support across classrooms.
• Participate in planning cycles that may include internalization, rehearsal, and debrief to strengthen delivery and improve outcomes.

Culture & Family Partnership

• Build strong student relationships and contribute to an inclusive, structured environment where students feel affirmed and challenged.
• Communicate consistently with families, providing transparency into progress, needs, and instructional priorities.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's Degree (in any field)
• Teacher Certification (lapsed certifications are okay) or enrollment in an alternative certification program (e.g., Teach For America, Capital Teaching Residency, City Teaching Alliance, etc.)

Salary Range: $64,890 - $81,039 (commensurate with 1-10 years of experience)
